Mr. Takeo Hirata ("Mr. Hirata"), a Japanese national is a director of Serendib Capital Limited and also currently President, Research Institute for Strategy of Natural Resources, Waseda University and the Japan Society of Sports Industry. Between 1982 and 1989 Mr. Hirata served in various capacities as an officer of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. 

From 1991 to 1994 he served as the First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Brazil. He was once engaged in oil resource development in the Middle East, as the director for international petroleum affairs at the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy. Mr. Hirata holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Yokohoma National University, Masters in Public Administration, John F Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University and Ph.D in Engineering from the University of Tokyo.  

Mr. Hirata brings a wealth of experience in management and business turnarounds to the Board, having been involved in several high-profile management recoveries during his career.
