Working Experience
Dato' John Tiong Tak Chong started his professional career with information technology companies under Syslink Group in 1992 and started his vocational training centers in 2002. In 2005, he acquired a number of private higher education institutions and vocational colleges throughout Malaysia and as the Group CEO of iColleges Sdn Bhd until to-date. During the period, he has transformed some of the Vocational Training Centres into the Colleges. Dato John Tiong has more than 20 years of experience in education industry.
He was the Ahli Lembaga of Perbadanan Tabung Pembangunan Kemahiran (PTPK) under the Ministry of Human Resources (from 2006 - 2012). During the course of his career, he involved in various industries ranging from healthcare services, property and construction and education. He set up a number of companies with some of the organisations.
His commitment to education manifested itself during the earliest days when he participated in those government programmes to support and provide vocational training for Penan and Minority Ethnic group, to give them the education opportunities and thus contributing to the goal of a knowledge-oriented society. He was appointed as Pemanca, Kuching City Chinese Community Leader by the Sarawak Government.
