Dato' Haji Abdul Malik bin Abul Kassim has extensive experiences which spanned over 40 years in various levels of business management and diverse industries that includes event company, chemical company, housing development, construction, construction materials, electrical engineering, food packing, electronics, international real estates and hospitality industries, both locally and abroad. He also held notable positions in international engineering and construction companies, namely Christiani & Nielsen Company United Kingdom, a construction company and Boskalis International (M) Sdn Bhd, a global services provider operating in the dredging, maritime infrastructure and maritime services sectors. Dato' Haji Abdul Malik was a member of Penang State Legislative Assembly and the Penang State Executive Councillor for Religious Affairs, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs from March 2008 to May 2018. He was appointed as Chairman of Halal Development Corporation ("HDC") by The Finance Minister and appointed as Chairman of Malaysia Pineapple Industry Board ("LPNM") by the Agriculture Minister, as the Chairman of LPNM until March 2020. He was the Yang Di Pertua Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Pulau Pinang for term 2018/2019.
Dato' Haji Abdul Malik also sat on the Board of PBA Holdings Bhd, Penang Development Corporation, Invest-in-Penang Berhad and Penang Global Tourism between March 2008 and May 2018. Currently, he is the Deputy Chairman of HDC. He also holds a number of business advisory positions in companies involve in housing development, construction, trading and international business.
