Dear "Rich", as long as there is some upside and not downside, it is good enough already. CIMB up to fast today until I am not able to chase it while RHBCAP was trading between 7.86 and 7.88 for most of the day but last minute it gaps down to close at 7.80. Hopefully RHBCAP will still rise tomorrow and hit my target price of 8.40 by the end of this month.

Without the merger, we estimate that RHB Cap’s fair value on a standalone basis to be at RM8.40/share. This is based on an ROE of 10.7% for FY15F, leading to a fair P/BV of 1.1x based on a book value of RM7.75/share for FY15F.

Some fund managers said news that the deal is off would be positive for CIMB and RHB Capital. This is because their share prices have underperformed due to uncertainties and concerns arising from the protracted negotiations.

Why the price of RHBCAP shot up to a high of 7.93 but closed gap down at only 7.80. So fast profit taking already? Any more room to rebound further? I have just bought at 7.86. Quite worrying.

richkid: Always remember....above 0.77 is a danger zone. Many trapped there. So don't keep chasing when the price is too high. Lock in some profit for CNY. It might dip again before moving up. This is mere technical rebound as the world economy is still not too rosy....bad news comes on and off....sentiment still fragile...trade cautiously. If got profit take first. That is the rule of thumb. Don't let your profit turn to losses. The price of the share is already reflected before the Q4 announcement...and when the news comes....many will sell. Remember Sell on news...buy on rumours.

4th quarter results expected to be announced on 27 Feb 2015. If buy on rumours and sell on news is applied, 10 market days before that date, it should go up, up and up. And if research houses give new target price, it can up some more. Unless we are so bad luck that market meltdowns during that period of time which I hope it won't happen.

IFCA hit 100mil sales for FY2014. What does it mean?

It means 4th qtr sales at least 42mil (Q1 14mil, Q2 18mil, Q3 26mil)
Due to nature of software business % of profit is high once reached critical mass. As human cost is pretty much covered, most of the sales will translate to profits estimated conservatively at 50% of sales.

Hence, we are looking at 33mil profits (Q1 0.4mil, Q2 3mil, Q3 8.5mil) for FY14.

At CIMB 21x, IFCA tp should be at RM1.45 (33mil/477 @ 21x)

50% is conservative = tp RM1.45
60% = tp RM1.63
70% = tp RM1.82
