The flaw in economic assumption is 'all economic agents behave rationally". This led to the flawed assumption of 'profit maximization' -all firms would borrow money if interest rate is ultra low.

Not only Maxis. All telcos are facing headwinds. Just look at Digi & Axiata now - Orange will also face the same headwinds.

The telco sector is no longer attractive. Orange managed to eat into the market share of those 3 telcos due to cheaper price but with speed faster than the other 2. Bear in mind, all this while orange is riding on Maxis network.

After 2018, we still do not know whether orange can still maintain its speed with cheaper pricing. Only time will tell.

That said, I am not looking forward to orange IPO. Nothing exciting.

Maxis Berhad (Maxis) refers to Maxis’ announcement dated 28 June 2017 in relation to the termination of the Network Sharing and Alliance Agreement (NSA) that will take place progressively in stages over a period of 18 months with completion on 27 December 2018.

This is not a hit n run type of share. U have to hold it in order to gain. Nobody can predict the price. U may get it a few cts cheaper if u are lucky.

First, if someone were to tell me Maxis will drop like no tomorrow, I do not believe. It is still the no.1 telco. Digi's broadband is still as slow as snail ( I know because I am using it), Axiata is falling way behind -having unfavourable conditons overseas n locally. The soon-to-be listed UMobile is Eibta positive (like Green Packet) but is still making losses or at best a small profit. (many ppl waiting for its IPO.)

Second, all telcos are no longer dividend plays. Look at Axiata. Everyone knows that. We do not need analyst to remind us.

Third, the placement is positive. There is only a marginal dilution in EPS n has effectively solved its funding problem.

Anyway, we will see if some of us can get it cheaper than what funds which subscribe the placement at 5.52

I think so. The placement has no material effect on its EPS considering it is used to pare down its debt resulting in interest savings of abt 59 million.

Lotte Chemicals does not have any gearing. i.e. it is debt free. That is the plus point. PChem is not debt free.

Since crude oil is not expected to go sky high, the cheap feedstock enables the petrochemical industry to make good profits.

As most of IPOs are priced near market price, I do not expect fantastic profit on their listing day. Just look at Ecoworld Intl now. If any external factors drag the market down, maybe we can buy it then.

Well, palm oil saved us in 1997/98 Asian crisis. I was attending an annual dinner given by a trade association where the guest of honour was the late Minister of primary Industries, Mr Lim Keng Yaik. And he mentioned palm oil and China.

BUT, to be more direct, it was China, which bought huge quantities of palm oil from us, saved us from economic collapse.

China could have bought the commodity from Africa or elsewhere.

All telcos are overvalued. Now timber stocks are overvalued.

I do not buy these type of stories. Using all these methods, probably all the stocks in KLSE are overvalued. Price is just a function of supply n demand. Trading in KLSE is dominated by EPF. They can just continue to selldown n small traders would cut loss. Then EPF buy it back in small quantities quietly. Having accumulated enough, they start to push the wagon.

Before BNM ruling to convert 75% of their proceeds to MYR, glove companies are able to shield themselves from forex volatility. Now this protection is gone.
Coupled with increase in the price of raw materials, labour (having to pay foreign workers levy n EIS), the sector is no longer attactive. I foresee glove makers reporting forex losses in the coming qtrs.
