I changed from Streamyx to Maxis for fiber many many years ago. 5 to 6 years ago and never looked back. 6 years back i had hell of a hard time cancelling my contract that has passed the bond period and had to pay 2 months of penalty because of bill cycle. I would rather they stick to GST. At least it is consumption tax, you dont buy you dont pay at least the purchaser has a choice. If they start with profit gain tax or inheritance tax, it would be extremely stupid. Increase personal income tax, tax cooperate more? Sir James Dyson, billionaire British inventor of the bagless vacuum cleaner, has expressed interest in bringing new investments into Malaysia and enhancing the capability of Malaysian engineers, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The Prime Minister said Dyson has already invested in Malaysia with his facilities located in Johor and hired a large number of engineers.

"If he (Dyson) continues his investment in Malaysia, we can reduce the number of unemployed who have studied up to PhD level," he said after visiting Imperial College London on Monday.

At the prestigious science-based university, Dr Mahathir met Dyson who showed interest in bringing new investments into Malaysia.

The Prime Minister said the Government would amend "restrictive" policies so that Dyson would be more keen to invest in Malaysia.

"We will persuade him (to continue investing)," he said.

On his visit to Imperial College London, Dr Mahathir said he was attracted to the automotive field that the university was working on to improve the efficiency of the engine and its forays in the development of electric vehicles.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) has proposed a penalty of RM17,397,695 against Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd (Dagang Net) for provisionally infringing Section 10(1) read with Section 10(2)(c) of the Competition Act 2010.

In a decision issued yesterday, the proposed penalty was for allegedly abusing its position as a monopoly in the provision of trade facilitation services under the National Single Window, refusing to supply the said electronic mailboxes to end users of the Customs Information System and also for imposing barriers to entry to the extent that may harm competition.

MyCC said in a statement today that the investigation on Dagang Net commenced following complaints received by the commission.

“The investigation has provisionally found that Dagang Net had abused its dominant position by refusing to supply new and/or additional electronic mailboxes to end users who utilised front-end software from software solutions providers which were not considered to be Dagang Net’s authorised business partners,” it said.

Dagang Net was also provisionally found to have imposed an exclusivity clause on its business partners which would have had the effect of distorting competition in an upcoming market by creating barriers to entry for Dagang Net’s competitors in the said market which would have made the said competitors less than efficient when competing with Dagang Net.

In addition, MyCC proposed to impose a directive on Dagang Net to cease and desist its infringing conduct and any future conduct which may disrupt competition in the present and future market.

It also proposed that the directors and senior management of Dagang Net and its related companies to undergo a competition law compliance programme within three months of the issuance of the proposed decision.

The proposed decision is a written notice setting out the facts on which the commission makes its assessment and its reasons for arriving at the proposed decision.

It is issued to the enterprises concerned to assist them in making representations and provide any other information to support their representations to the commission.

In this regard, the enterprise concerned has 30 days from the date of receipt of the proposed decision to make their representations to the commission, which will then make its final decision after it has considered the said representations and all the available information and evidence.

The Dagang Net case reflects the MyCC’s effort in addressing the issue of abusive conduct by monopolies in Malaysia and support for the government’s effort to foster transparency, corporate governance and ethical business conduct.

A robust competition regime will bring about significant and holistic long and short-term benefits to consumers in terms of competitive pricing, improved quality of products and services, enhanced innovation and wider choices for consumers.

The Competition Act 2010 came into force on Jan 1, 2012, and as such, businesses ought to have complied with the provisions of the Act.

VEB Group will assign its NAGA 4 for this contract. NAGA 4 is a premium independent-leg cantilever jack-up drilling rig that has a drilling depth capability of 30,000 feet and has a rated operating water depth of 400 feet.

The estimated value of the contract is USD31,038,000 and tentative commencement date of the contract is expected to commence in August 2018 for eleven (11) firm wells.

As Russia and other producers outside of Opec rubber stamped a deal agreed by the cartel on Friday to increase oil production, Khalid al Falih moved to clarify just how much oil would be coming to the market.

Contrary to the interpretation of oil policy by some Opec delegates and energy analysts, who poured cold water on the impact of the deal, Mr Falih said an additional 1m barrels a day would make their way around the world, with several hundred thousand of that coming from the kingdom alone.

Mr Falih said a “measurable” rise in output from July should be expected, just as pressure has increased from the US and other big oil importers to cap prices before they harm the broader economy.


The announcement on Saturday came despite opposition this week from Iran, whose oil minister Bijan Zanganeh argued that a significant rise in output would imply producers were acting on behalf of US President Donald Trump.

Mr Trump, who has accused the cartel of “artificially” raising prices, has withdrawn the US from the nuclear deal with Iran and reimposed energy sector sanctions on Opec’s third-largest producer, which are expected to hit its oil exports.
