GUYS, Ophir Energy Plc is not just talking only, instead they are acquiring SALAMADER shares in the open market all these while..it has started way back...
See all the links of these site, boys, Ophir is buying millions and millions of SALAMANDER, and I don't know anything about it until now....FYI only..

China keeps buying the Brent Crude future ~85++...
I agree with qieen, Neither OPHIR nor CEPSA would allow SONA to hold a stake of 40% working interest at the Greater BUALUANG area. Don't forget, SONA only entitle to the 40% WORKING interest only. With the falling Oil price, it make it easier for Those TWO bidding to acquire the SALAMANER.

Very interesting, on the eve of awaiting SC approval, there come the news. Heh Heh! Heh Heh Heh...

If the dropping oil price is such a terrible thing, why would they want to buy the Salamander. Are we too naive to be able to rationalise or think in a reasonable way. Now that they are trying to stir the broth, "... It is thought some investors have expressed serious reservations, throwing the deal into doubt..."
What a silly comment..?! They intend to pay 275 Million pounds = 440 million US for the hostile take over according to the news,
Well, I am 100% sure what SONA management would think about the news. Since SONA deal (Greater Bualuang) costs USD $280 millions for only 40% stake. SONA might just be better off buying the whole SALAMANDER for USD $440 with some 'bad debt', and sell everything to pay the debt and keep the other 60% stake of Bualuang. Of course there are more aftermaths pertaining to the whole deals..
Heh Heh heh, this is getting interesting

@Ichingh88, per barrel has to enquire with the Salamander for the specific numbers, I just try to figure out a very rough number for illustration purposes only. As for the debt, to be honest, all O & G have debt sky high...one good thing, it pumps all year round...
@ yamatotrading, I understand your concern, the number is just for reference only.
@ Maggael, ya, you are right on the operating cost, it was USD $16.6,

should get some dividends after the deal

@maggiel, cranking up some numbers to support lah...make it positive
From the above link -- "...The blocks on sale include the Bualuang, producing at an average daily rate of between 11,000 and 14,000 barrels of oil...."
Let's assume the lowest production rate of 11.000 barrels of oil per day
Theoretically SONA should get 11,000 bpd x 350 working days x US$86.00 per barrels (as of now) x RM$3.278 ($1 US to RM $3.278) x 40% share (SONA share) = 434 million per year from Salamander deal (as of now), (of course there are loyalty + taxes + operating cost + loans payment + director fees + bursa parking fee :) + misc + etc; haven't been deducted from the numbers),
Let’s assume taking everything into consideration the total cost is
50%, so 434 m - 217.0 m= 217.0 m profit per annum / 1410714300 outstanding shares = 0.1538 cps
60%, so 434 m - 260.4 m= 173.6 m profit per annum / 1410714300 outstanding shares = 0.1230 cps
70%, so 434 m - 303.8 m= 130.2 m profit per annum / 1410714300 outstanding shares = 0.0923 cps
80%, so 434 m - 347.2 m= 86.8 m profit per annum / 1410714300 outstanding shares = 0.0615 cps
90%, so 434 m - 390.6 m= 43.4 m profit per annum / 1410714300 outstanding shares = 0.0307 cps
Several things will have the direct impact on the computation
1. The production rate - if the output is higher or lower, more profit or vice versa
2. The Crude oil price - if the price is higher or lower, more profit or vice versa
3. The Exchange rate - small but significant - will definitely change the numbers
4. Working days - 365 days?? How about 350 days, 15 days downtime for maintenance per year
Just my wild calculation for sharing only….Not the info for buying SONA share
It just seems that the deal is very positive, at least for a number of years

APPROVAL OF G4/50 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT
22 September 2014
Salamander announces that its Environmental Impact Assessment (“EIA”) for exploration drilling in the G4/50 licence, Greater Bualuang area, Gulf of Thailand, has been granted conditional approval. Of the 20 drilling locations in the original EIA, 18 have been approved subject to: updating the oil spill response modelling to account for the removal of two potential drilling locations; and communicating the removal of the two locations to local stakeholders. In addition the Thai authorities have stipulated technical adjustments to the drafting.
The 18 locations include all of Salamander’s top ranked prospects in the G4/50 licence and the company expects to commence exploration drilling before the end of 2014.
James Menzies, Chief Executive of Salamander, commented: “We have long been excited about the potential of the G4/50 licence. Now that we have the EIA’s in hand we look forward to a low cost, but high impact, exploration drilling programme over the next twelve months.”

Since it is almost there (Anxiously Awaiting SC approval). Why don't we refresh our memory by listening to the recorded interview of the SONA Petroleum MD Datuk Seri Hadian Hashim.
It is quite interesting when comparing data and information (2013) with what we are having now (2014).
