Ah maybe they press the price down so that they don't have to pay out anything and when the price goes back to normal after expiration date they then sell it on the open market.

I believe that when the issuer (OSK & Ambank etc) issues the call warrant, it is good for the counter because :- (1) they would have hedged the share say in this case collecting them at say RM1.10.
(a) if share price of JCY on expiry date is 80sen, then profit is nil (RM1.10 - 80sen - 15sen x 2). Anything above this amount is all pure profit up to RM1.22. If price is RM1.22 or above profit is 42 sen per share. (2 x 15sen + share profit) as they do not have to pay out anything or sell the above shares and give the money to you if it is above RM1.22. So I see no reason they have to press down the price 5 days before expiration date as it make no difference to them. In fact if the price is below 80 sen then they lose money.
(b) having bought the shares, the supply is reduced so it is good for the share price. (remember supply goes down, price goes up)
(c) usually they will issue cw where the company can pay dividend as these dividends goes to them and not to the cw holders (I think only)
(d) must be stable or growth companies because if the share price goes below 80 sen in this case, they lose money. Just my 2 sen worth of thought. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks in advance.

Welcome back to the market. Adding some liquidity and most important is that some TA's investor are coming back into the market which could be a positive sign. Good luck.

KUALA LUMPUR: The DRB-HICOM Bhd put warrant, namely the DRBHCOM-HA, is a poison pill warrant, as "clueless" investors have been showing interest on the put warrant not knowing that they will only make money from the said warrant if the mother share goes down closer to the RM2.00 mark.

Analysts were puzzled by the continuous interest in DRBHCOM-HA, put warrants issued by AmInvestment Bank Bhd on June 30 2011, and will be expiring end of this month.

"This may be simply because of investors' lack of awareness and understanding on how a put warrant works," said an analyst from a brokerage.

Currently, the more commonly issued warrants are the call warrants. Call warrants give the holder the right, but not the obligation, to buy a mother share at a pre-determined price (or commonly known as the strike price or the exercise price) by the contracted date.

In contrast, put warrants give the holders the right to SELL the mother share at a pre-determined price.

Simply put, an investor can make money on a call warrant if the mother share exceeds a certain price, while investors can make money on a put warrant if the mother share goes below a certain price.

In DRBHCOM-HA's case, investors who bought the put warrants at 6 sen each would need the DRB-HICOM mother share to fall to RM2.12 just to break even, and RM2.11 or below in order to make money when the warrant expires (exercise price for the DRBHCOM-HA is RM2.30, with a conversion rate of 3:1). At last Friday's closing price, the mother share was traded at a 29.3 per cent premium on its put warrant.

DRBHCOM-HA closed unchanged for the past four trading days at 6 sen, with more than 70 million warrants changing hands. So far this year, the warrants have depreciated by 40 per cent from 10 sen early this year.

Currently, there are 100 million DRBHCOM-HA put warrants issued.

However, based on analysts' feedback, it appears that it is unlikely that the mother shares will fall close to the RM2 mark. RHB Investment Bank, in its recent report, upgraded its recommendation on DRB-HICOM to outperform with a target price of RM3.45 while CIMB Investment Bank has a target price of RM4.60.
A look at the five research reports issued this year revealed that target prices are between RM2.90 and RM4.60.

Interestingly, the securities were suspended by AmInvestment last Monday at 2.31pm, and trading of the securities resumed 9.00am a day later. Investors remained puzzled on why the securities were suspended.

At press time, AmInvestment did not reply to Business Times query on why it suspended the put warrants.

Besides DRB-HICOM's put warrants, there are also six other put warrants in the stock exchange - Hong Leong Bank Bhd's HLBANK-HA, Dialog Group Bhd's DIALOG-HA, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd's MHB-HA, Petronas Chemical Bhd's PCHEM-HA, Pos Malaysia Bhd's POS-HA and YTL Group Bhd's YTL-HA.

All these put warrants were issued by AmInvestment. Most of them will be expiring by end of this month, while the rest (HLBANK-HA and YTL-HA) will be expiring on April 18.

In order to get a truer figure, you may enquire around to see how much we need to pay to cover the above or similar insurance.
Then add this to the interest received yearly as our income received per year. Take 150,260 / income * 100 = % return.
Wishing everyone a Happy, Prosperous and Healthy Chinese New Year.

2012-01-17 12:47 | Report Abuse

Trying to explain the above.
investment = 6yr x 57600 = 345,600
capital return = 345600 / 46 yrs = 7513
Interest received per yr = 11500 - 7513 = 3987

In yr 1, investment = 57600 - 7513 = 50087
in yr 2 investment = 50087 + 50087 (yr 1 investment)= 100174
in yr 3 investment = 50087 x 3 = 150261
in yr 4 investment = 50087 x 4 = 200348
in yr 5 investment = 50087 x 5 = 250435
in yr 6 investment = 50087 x 6 = 300522
in yr 7 investment = 300522 - 7513 = 293009
in yr 8 unvestment = 293009 - 7513 = 285496
and so on to yr 46. If we total the investment from yr 1 to 46 and divide by 46 we get the average investment as follows =

6911955 / 46 = 150,260
150,260 / 3987 = 2.65% return per yr

therefore return per yr = 2.65 % + insurance cover.

I don't know whether the above is correct? Not taking into account the value of money as years goes by. That is what it is the RM11500 you are going to receive in 46 years time. Cheers.

Happy New Year to you and your tratles and all those who read your posts. I must say that I do enjoy reading your posts, advise and guide. I know that there are lots of methods on how to trade in the market and yours is one of them. I know that my friend won more than me from the market by buying good fundamental shares and keep them for months. It does not mean that I have to follow him because it does not suit me as I like to trade rather than hold for months. So if a person had won much more than you percentage wise etc it does not mean that your method is no good. It is meant for a more conservative investor. As long as you are satisfied with the return from your trading method then it is good enough. Cheers.
Your must be wondering why I am writing this. Well I had just read your blog and wish to let you know that a lot of people do like your method.

In all gambling eg horse racing, numbers. lottery. cards. casino, shares (speculative type) the odds is always on the bankers side never on the players/punters side. So we usually ends up the loser paying for their gains, expenses, taxes etc. If they cheat us we die earlier so we got to be extra careful or go for those with good fundamental or pays good dividends.

I am no expert but I'll try. A) 1 right = 1 tmcl @30sen + 2 free wars. b) war. conversion is 1 for 1 tmcl @ 40sen c) since the war. is out of the money i.e conversion 40s is higher than the mother sh (tmcl = 33.5s)we assume that on listing the war. is quoted at 5 sen. d) therefore your rights share is worth 33.5sen + 5 + 5 - 30sen = 13.5 sen (because if you subscribe for tmcl at 30 sen you will get 1 tmcl + 2 wars. e) since tmcl right is quoted at 22.5 sen then they value the warr at 9.5 each and tmcl at 33.5 sen. Of course when the price of tmcl or right changes then the value of your warrant changes. If you think that the warrant will be lower then you will be better off selling the rights but if they push tmcl higher then the cost of your warrant is lower. I hoped that I am correct and please correct me if I am worng. Good luck

Or if they got burnt in the stock market, they may have to liquidate the property to finance the stock or not more funds to speculate in teh stock market or maybe got scared. We are not like the european/american funds who will pick something else to invest like gold etc.

If our stock market comes down badly, then our property definitely will also come down. Most players who speculate on the stock also plays the property market. This is only my opinion.

I think the way Harvest was designated is too harsh. (1) it should not be suspended one day before designation. or at least give back the one day to the investors ie t1 becomes t2 etc (2) all those who had bought these shares should be allowed to see by T3. Don't kill the hen that lays the golden eggs. If everyone is like you and me who checks the fundamentals, chart analysis, read this website etc before investing and no speculating then the market will be very dull. How are they going to answer to the shareholders of Bursa Malaysia Bhd when their profits are also dull with small or no growth. (3) whether there will be buyers or not is another matter. At least they do not feel cheated by changing the rules midway.
