‘Economic reforms will benefit all races

PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli admits that Indians have specific problems but says that the matter must be addressed in totality.

PETALING JAYA: Structural reforms to the economy would benefit all Malaysians irrespective of racial background, said PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli.

Speaking at a press conference here, he added: “When it comes to free education and healthcare policies mentioned in our manifesto, the Malays and Indians will benefit the most.”

He said this in response to questions on why the Pakatan Rakyat manifesto did not include specific programmes for the Indian community.

Also present were PKR vice-president Tian Chua, PAS central working committee member Dzulkelfy Ahmad and Bukit Bendera MP Liew Chin Tong.

Rafizi, however, admitted that the Indians had specific problems that needed attention but insisted that the issue must be addressed in totality.

“And our manifesto must be read together with our Common Policy Framework and the Orange Book,” he said.

Rafizi also explained why the manifesto had specific programmes for the Orang Asal and East Malaysians.

Orang Asal, he said, had land ownership problems that would require reforms to laws governing indigenous land.

“As for East Malaysians, the economic gap between them and West Malaysians is huge. In addition, it is also about upholding their rights as per the Malaysia agreement,” said Rafizi.

Commenting on the matter, Tian Chua said that Pakatan strove to break the racial and religious barrier that has divided Malaysians for long.

“So when we talk about university intake, all qualified will get a place irrespective of your background,” said the Batu MP.

He added that that Pakatan government would continue to uphold the affirmative action but tweak it to become need-based instead of race-based.

On Indians, Tian Chua assured that the community’s problems such as those stateless would be resolved.

“As for our manifesto, rest assured that it is not cast in stone and we are open to feedback,” he said.

Cuts in duties for cars from Japan, Australia imminent

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 — Putrajaya will announce a cut in car duties from Japan and Australia tomorrow, which would mean zero duties after three years similar to cars from Asean nations.

The Star Online quoted Minister for International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, as saying today that the reduction would span three years for car models originating from the two countries.

He declined to elaborate further and told the news portal that more details would be released tomorrow.

Malaysia exports Proton cars to Australia now, but does not import many vehicles from the Commonwealth country.

The Malaysian Insider understands that under the Malaysia-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) which came into effect on January 1, Putrajaya has committed to cut duties from 15 per cent in 2013 to 10 per cent in 2014 and 5 per cent in 2015 with zero duties in 2016.

The Edge, meanwhile, reported that the move is seen as a response to Pakatan Rakyat’s promise to make cars cheaper through the reduction of various car taxes as stated in their election manifesto.

Malaysia is also a signatory to the Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA) agreement, which will liberalise the automotive industry by the end of 2015 through the removal of taxes on vehicles with at least 40 per cent Asean regional value content.

......but still high...why?

Read please...

Lets not get too excited at this attempted theft if a PR policy.

Lets see what is announced tomorrow.

The problem is not just import duties.

The corrupt Approved Permits issued to UMNO cronies is also a major cost as are the excise duties at between 75%-105% of the cost if the vehicle and the 10% sales tax.

A high end BMW 5 Series sells in Europe for RM190,000 before tax, a less well specified BMW 5 Series sells in KL for RM 598,800. The Rakyat pays over RM400,000 on a new BMW to UMNO Cronies and in Tax.

Remove all APs and open the market up to free enterprise. An entrepreneur could import the cars, still pay the same levels of tax to the government and be able to sell BMWs for about RM100,000 less than today. Obviously it would be nice to see taxes reduced too, but lets open this market up first and remove this cancerous non-productive tax (UMNO rent) on society that only benefits umno cronies.

The Calculation

BMW 5 Series configured with high specifications retails at RM190,000 in Europe before tax, obviously the cost price to the dealer is less.....

Shipping RM3000
Insurance during shipping RM1000

Customs Value (RM190,000+RM3000+RM1000 = RM194,000)

Import Duty RM194,000 x 30% = RM58,200

Excise Duty RM194,000 x105% = RM203,700

Sales Tax @10% x (RM194,000+RM58,200+RM203,700 = RM455,900) = RM45,590

Total RM501,490

AP Costs (given to cronies for free) and added to the end consumer as rent = RM97,310

BMW sold in Malaysia for a Grand Total RM598,800

16% of the cost of a new car is UMNO rent money

Lets reduce car costs from allcountriesof the world but keep the tax money rolling into the treasury simply by voting UMNO out of power.

.....so how much is UMNO cronies getting?????

Thank You Pakatan Rakyat! BN is now copying your manifesto and we can expect lower car prices to be announce tomorrow!

This lousy does noting at all & so high car taxes where a BRAND NEW Toyota Camry 2.4 cost RM70k in U.S. now cost RM160k in Malaysia....DAMN THIS UMNO!!!!

"No! No! No!" to MCA vice president Dr. Ng Yen Yen

YB Dato' Sri Dr. Ng Yen Yen greets the people in Melaka in conjunction with the Chap Goh Mei celebration at the Jonker Street. The CNY greeting soon turns into a "political speech" and the people in Melaka really "voice out" their thoughts when battle of "Yes and No!" exploded between the minister and the crowd in Melaka.
"Malaysia's direction is in the hands of the people. We are confident with the people of Melaka as you (the rakyat) know who works for the people."
The MCA vice president also compared the banned celebration of Valentine's Day and lotteries under the PAS rule, calling on the crowd to appreciate the developments brought by Malacca Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam She has asked the crowd to agree with her by saying "yes" and that the BN government would organise a bigger Chap Goh Meh celebration if it won the coming general election.
Even when she urges the Chinese lion dance crew to hit the drums, the Chinese-majority crowd only responded with a clear shout of "No! No! No!" Once again the party was humiliated, this time in front crowd comprising of people of all ages, both local and foreign.

lmf_hau , I thank you for your reply.

Yes, lmf_hau , I did say that Amedia may go to 25 cents, up a few cents where Amedia was...this is a great possibility that always happen when shifting to the main board. I base my words on my many years of trading and NOT just bullshit. That's why I can proudly say that I am still alive & kicking & making money still after more than 20 years of trading which I can't say of many other who may be gone even after a few months of trading. Some even are make bankrupts which I presume you have seen too and maybe, just maybe, some of your friends may fall into this category too.

lmf_hau you said this..I quote..

In addition, based on accounting, any corporate excise, which further dilute the EPS = PE ratio = current share px.

...may I ask you if there was an announcement that Amedia will be transferred to the main board, the date is 5 February 2013. I said that with the transfer to the main board couple with the expected good earning in the coming annual report 2012 released, Amedia will move up a few cents to 25 cents. BTW, lmf_hau, how much do you expect Amedia to make for 2012? You already know from your readings that Amedia will most probably make about 4.3 cents per share and so based on the above I predict that Amedia will be moving North. And Amedia being a good speculative counter may rise higher after moving to the main board.

But lmf_hau, you don't like what I say & predict because you could see the potential of Amedia and so you took the advantage of it rising & you see the potential of making a few cents per share & that's why you wrote NON-STOP saying Amedia will fall to 10 cents to frighten members here .

FYI lmf_hau, the RIGHTS ISSSUE didn't come out then and yet you took so much PLEASURE TO HAMMERED AMEDIA by creating FEAR....yes FEAR, a very dirty 4 letter word indeed. The proposed rights issue came out on Thursday, 21 Feb 2013 but you lmf_hau CREATED FEAR LONG BEFORE THAT.

But you lmf_hau, don't like to collect Amedia at that price and so you create FEAR by writing everyday NON-STOP. lmf_hau, you wanted to earn more by collecting Amedia at a very much cheaper price of 10 cents, this CLEARLY SHOWS THAT YOU ARE A VERY GREEDY PERSON and that's why you create FEAR everyday....very very bad indeed & so be prepared to FACE THE CONSEQUENCES FROM GOD WHEN THE TIME COMES. Yes, it's TRUE lmf_hau and I have seen it with my very own eyes too among friends and just recently too my brother-in-law who does some cheating to make money and ended up a cripple. lmf_hau, I am not saying that you are cheating but what you did was MORALLY WRONG as there are many members here who are using their hard earned money to make some pocket money in shares trading and you had to do this to them by CREATING FEAR, OMG.

So, lmf_hau, just remember TOO these powerful 5 letter word ....KARMA.
Be always helpful to others and NOT OTHERWISE.

And 1 more thing is this...when you hammered Amedia non-stop as to collect it cheaper, others here too have that thought and so they join you to hammered Amedia too...too bad.

lmf_hau, many members may not be rich like a few of us here & to do this to them is just TOO BAD...off course they are very FEARFUL because of you & your greedy kakis here [including one azbn] wanting to collect Amedia cheaply. So these members who are fearful too sells cheaply to cut loss now and hope to collect it back at 10 cents that you so happily predicted as well as the other greedy kakis.Yes, herd mentality follow too and many will follow to throw with the hope to collect Amedia at 10 cents and below. Yes, this is what I call Mass Hypnotism too. Because of too many GREEDY KAKIS HERE SPREAD FEAR OF AMEDIA DROPING TO 10 CENTS AND BELOW, it wwill have an effect after a certain period of hammering. When many GREEDY people HERE say the same thing almost every minute of it, many fearful ones may think it becomes a reality. Yes, Mass Hypnotism ....yes, it takes over your senses & logic tinking.

lmf_hau, if you cannot afford to buy Amedia at the 17 cents, then PLEASE DON'T PLAY SHARES BUT PLEASE , PLEASE DON'T SPREAD FEAR PREDICTING THAT AMEDIA WILL FALL TO 10 CENTS OR EVEN LOWER.

lmf_hau, be GOOD, GOD is watching...ALWAYS REMEMBER THESE 5 POWERFUL LETTERS WORD, KARMA & to those GREEDY ONES HERE WHO JOING IN THE EFFORT WITH lmf_hau, YOU ALL BE CAREFULL TOO WITH GOD WATCHING and anytime when you least expected it, YOU HAD IT, BE CAREFUL.

Lastly to all I leave these few words.....You Reap What You Sow.....KARMA

Enough said.

Hadi: The pharaoh of ancient Egypt gave BR1M, too
February 25, 2013

* MKini Hafiz Yatim
* 4:46PM Feb 25, 2013

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said the federal government’s efforts to give the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) is nothing new as the matter had been implemented by the Egyptian pharaoh ages ago.
Abdul Hadi said the pharaoh had been giving out assistance, but it was not directed to improve their livelihood but to make the people stupid.

NONE“We (Pakatan) do not want to see the people become beggars but to uplift them by giving them proper jobs and creating new ones.
“In Pakatan Rakyat we do not want to insult the people as it is the responsibility of the government to make the people cleverer.
“That is why when the government gives, you put it in your pocket as it is the people’s money, as you all are not chickens or ducks but people,” he said, in mocking what had been reported in the mainstream media.

Armed forces apolitical
G Vinod
| February 25, 2013

They will back any democratically elected government, including Pakatan Rakyat, claims former army deputy chief, Lieutenant General (R) Abdul Ghaffir Abdul Hamid

SHAH ALAM: The Malaysian Armed Forces is an apolitical institution and will support any government democratically elected to power, said a former deputy army chief.

Lieutenant General (R) Abdul Ghaffir Abdul Hamid, dismissed claims by Barisan Nasional (BN) that there would be chaos if Pakatan Rakyat wins federal power in the 13th general election.

“I assure you that the armed forces is a professional organisation. Their loyalty lies with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“If Pakatan wins, I’m sure that our military will respect the new government,” said Abdul Ghaffir at the fourth Pakatan Rakyat convention in Shah Alam today.

Earlier this month, PKR received a boost when Abdul Ghaffir and three other senior army officials joined the party.

Pakatan has a good chance to win

Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, unhappy with their move, retorted by saying that the former military leaders did not appreciate the armed forces’ contribution to their lives.

Abdul Ghaffir, however, conceded that there may be some quarters who would try to create problems if Pakatan wins but they would be in the minority.

“Only small pockets of people will try to create some incident but we won’t have a revolution here. Malaysians, in general, are law abiding,” he said.

The former army head also said that there was a good chance for Pakatan to take over Putrajaya after the 13th general election.

“The police and army intelligence services work together mostly. Based on our findings, there is a good chance for Pakatan to win the general election,” said Abdul Ghaffir.

Unquote.
