The 13th General Elections 2013 has seen the most number of multi-cornered fights and independents candidates in the history of elections in Malaysia. As we know, UMNO/BN has the most number of recalcitrant members standing as independents – a total of sixty-one have been sacked. Clearly, there are deep fissures in UNMO and BN, and they are not as invincible as they portray themselves through their propaganda and control of the media.

KEADILAN fortunately has fewer numbers of party members who have decided to stand as independents. This action of turning against the party, and contesting against candidates announced by the party leadership, is unacceptable. The were sacked with immediate effect the moment they decided to stand as independents against the party.

Despite this, disciplinary committee is still talking and negotiating with them. As President of KEADILAN, I am appealing to these twenty odd independents to withdraw their candidacy and issue an apology to the party immediately by 5pm tomorrow, 25 April 2013. The struggle is beyond individual glory and ego. We must stand with the party and the rakyat to defeat UMNO and Barisan National.
