KUALA LUMPUR (March 19): YTL Power International has set up YTL AI Cloud, a specialised provider of massive-scale graphics processing unit (GPU)-based accelerated computing, to deploy and manage one of the world’s most advanced supercomputers on Nvidia Grace Blackwell-powered DGX Cloud, an artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputer for accelerating the development of generative AI.

In a statement on Tuesday, YTL Power said it is among the first companies to adopt the Nvidia GB200 NVL72, which is a multi-node, liquid-cooled, rack-scale system with fifth-generation NVLink.

It said the supercomputer will be interconnected by the Nvidia Quantum InfiniBand networking platform.

The platform acts as a single GPU with 1.4 exaflops of AI performance and 30TB of fast memory, and is designed for the most compute-intensive workloads.

The YTL AI Supercomputer will surpass more than 300 exaflops of AI compute, making it one of the fastest supercomputers in the world.

Nvidia founder and chief executive officer Jensen Huang said Nvidia is working with YTL AI Cloud to bring a world-class accelerated computing platform to Southeast Asia, helping to drive scientific research, innovation and economic growth across the region.

““This latest supercomputer marks one of the first deployments of the NvidiA GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchip on DGX Cloud, supporting the growth of accelerated computing in the Asia-Pacific region,” he said.

YTL Power managing director Datuk Seri Yeoh Seok Hong said the company is proud to be working with Nvidia and the Malaysian government to bring powerful AI cloud computing to the country.

“We are excited to bring this supercomputing power to the Asia-Pacific region, which has been home to many of the fastest-growing cloud regions, and many of the most innovative users of AI in the world,” he said.

The YTL AI Supercomputer will be located in a 1,640-acre (663.68-hectare) data centre facility in the YTL Green Data Center Campus, Johor, powered by a renewable energy source from its on-site 500MW solar power facility.

This supercomputer will help meet the demand for highly scalable, high-performance cloud-based solutions for AI and machine learning workloads. Johor is within 50km from some of the world’s densest network interconnection points in neighbouring Singapore.

Until now everything is silent on this investment. What is the total cost? What we know owner is YTL Communications Sdn Bhd. To what extend Nividia is involved?

YTL Communications Sdn Bhd. is 60% wholly owned subsidiary of YTL Power, there are 40% other shareholder who will foot the bills. As of now, nobody know how it will be structure out, take out the DC business, YTLPower is already cheap. Nvidia committed to supply the processors that is the important things, leadtime with high volume of Nvidia processor can be 6 months to 12months. Most likely rainbow bond will be issued with warrants to make the bond attractive and to rewards long term shareholders. It has been years since the last bond issued.

Foreign investors sustained their net buying trend on
Bursa Malaysia, with an inflow of RM352.9m, marking the
fourth consecutive week of net purchases. Throughout
the week, foreigners recorded net buying every day, with
the highest inflow observed on Tuesday at RM193.0m,
following the market’s reopening.
• The sectors with the highest net foreign inflows were
Financial Services (RM143.6m), Telecommunication &
Media (RM95.0m), and Technology (RM61.4m), while
the sectors with the highest net foreign outflows were
Utilities (-RM29.0m), REITs (-RM19.1m), and Construction
(-RM16.3m).
• Local institutions continued their trend of net selling
domestic equities for the fourth consecutive week,
totalling RM277.5m.
• For the second consecutive week, local retailer remained
consistent in their pattern of net selling domestic
equities, with total sales reaching -RM75.5m last week.
• In terms of participation, there were increases in average
daily trading volume (ADTV) among local retailers
(+12.1%) and local institutions (+15.0%), but a decline
among foreign investors (-11.4%).

• Local retailers resumed net selling on Bursa Malaysia

• In terms of participation, there were increases in
average daily trading volume (ADTV) among local
retailers (-36.5%), local institutions (-31.7%), and foreign
investors (-35.5%).
