Petronas-backed LNG project in Queensland nearly complete. The Gladstone LNG Project in Queensland, backed by Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) is 80% complete and on track to deliver its first cargo in 2015. The project is a joint venture in which Santos Ltd owns 30%, Petronas 27.5%, Total of France 27.5% and Kogas of South Korea 15%. Property developer Titijaya Land is mulling over development projects on two parcels of land in the Klang Valley to beef up its already large gross development value (GDV). Sources said that Titijaya was in the process of submitting a proposal to KTMB Bhd to build a massive commercial building on the piece of land that is located between the Subang Jaya Komuter station and Shah Alam. It is believed that there is an option for the building to be KTMB's new headquarters.
It has been speculated that KTMB is looking to unlock the values of some of its land, including its current corporate office, which is a heritage building located in the heart of the city. The proposal is also subject to approval from the Railway Assets Corp, a Federal statutory body under the Transport Ministry.
"Even if the authority gives the green light, the project may take time and was unlikely to commence until 2016, as they have to realign the KTM track first," said a source. The other parcel that Titijaya is targeting is located in the popular spot in Ampang near Mah Sing Group Bhd's M City project. The land, measuring less than 4.05ha, is near the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway. Sources said the high-rise mixed development had a GDV of some RM1bil. (StarBiz)

RAPID, Pengerang: Awards to pick up ‘RAPID’ly

In April 2014, PETRONAS gave its Final Investment Decision (FID) for the development of the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) that comprises a large scale Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) and other associated facilities worth MYR86.6b (USD27b) in total. The PIC,to be developed on a 6,242 acre site, consists of a 300k bpd refinery and a
7.7mtpa petrochemical complex. The associated facilities include storage tanks, water system, a power co-generation plant and a LNG regasification terminal. The first refinery plant is set to commission by early-2019.Following the FID, a few construction packages consisting of earthworks, gas pipeline installation and for a co-generation plant have been awarded.
The other milestone was the Project Management Consultancy contract award to the Technip-Fluor consortium which includes the overall project and site management of the RAPID project. This follows from the front-end engineering design (FEED) for RAPID that was awarded to Technip in 2012. In 2H14, we expect infrastructure works awards to pick up strongly with
potential upcoming awards include a LNG regasification plant, a dam, water treatment facilities and a 2nd co-generation power plant.
