Yesterday, Gas Malaysia Bhd (GASMSIA) announced that the Government has approved the half-yearly natural gas base-tariff rate revision for non-power sectors in Peninsular Malaysia to RM31.92/mmbtu on average for Jul-Dec 2018 from RM30.90/mmbtu in Jan-Jun 2018 which is in line with the national rationalisation plan and Gas Cost Pass-through (GCPT) announced in Dec 2016. In addition, under the GCPT framework, a surcharge of RM0.77/mmbtu will apply to all tariff categories due to higher actual gas costs against the reference gas costs, translating to an average effective tariff of RM32.69/mmbtu which is slightly higher than RM32.52/mmbtu for 1H18.

So it should be good sign for TENAGA's Imbalance Cost Pass-Through (ICPT) Tariff, probably stay remain or slightly higher.

2018-05-28/ Public Bank: Tenaga Nasional (TNB) reported a 1QFY18 revenue of RM12.3bn and a net profit of RM2.1bn. Excluding a forex gain of RM83.1m, its 1QFY18 core net profit was RM2.0bn, accounting for 26% and 28% of full-year estimates respectively. This was in line with our but slightly above consensus estimates. We maintain our Outperform call on TNB with an unchanged TP of RM17.81. We like TNB for its defensive nature and undemanding valuations at a forward PE of only 11x.
