Cantona & Atom : Sorry guys, still not the best time to buy. NOTION will move above RM2.20 in weeks to come. However, Choo's family not yet ready for 20cents move. They are busy negotiating the sale of their Data Storage(HDD & SSD) business. Timing is the essence of everything! I'm putting my $ in Nestle & MRCB

Hi Guys, BAD news for some. FYI, NESTLE is my no.1 Love
Nestle Profit Falls On Higher Costs, Unfavorable Currency -
(RTTNews.com) - Swiss food and nutrition products giant Nestl© S.A. (NSRGY.PK) reported Thursday a sharp decline in profit for the full year 2011, as higher input costs and unfavorable foreign exchange impacted its results. In view of the continuing economic uncertainties and volatility, the company expects 2012 to be a difficult year, but anticipates organic sales growth of up to 6 percent.
Nestl© said it continued to grow in all regions across the world in 2011, with 5 percent organic growth in Europe, 6.4 percent in the Americas and 13.1 percent in Asia, Oceania and Africa. The company's business grew 13.3 percent in emerging markets and 4.3 percent in developed markets.
Paul Bulcke, CEO of the company said, "We delivered good performance, top and bottom line, in both emerging and developed markets in 2011. It was a challenging year, and we do not expect 2012 to be any easier."
The world's largest food maker said its profit attributable to shareholders dropped to 9.49 billion Swiss francs (about $10.24 billion) or 2.96 francs per share in 2011 from 34.23 billion francs or 10.12 francs per share in the previous year. The company said it has restated its prior-year figures.
Excluding exceptional items, underlying earnings per share grew 7.8 percent in constant currencies.
Sales declined to 83.64 billion francs from 93.02 billion francs in the prior year. Organic sales, which strip out foreign exchange fluctuations and the impact of acquisitions/divestitures, grew 7.5 percent in the year. The company attributed this to real internal growth of 3.9 percent and pricing impact of 3.6 percent.
Foreign exchange had a negative impact of 13.4 percent during the year. Excluding the impact of the sale of Alcon, sales were down by 4.8 percent, the company noted. Nestle also saw its margin improve 60 basis points to 15 percent.
The board will propose a dividend of 1.95 francs per share, payable as from April 26.
Bulcke added that the company is "well positioned in 2012 to deliver the Nestl© Model of organic growth between 5% and 6% as well as an improved margin and underlying earnings per share in constant currencies."
In Zurich, Nestl© shares are currently trading at 54.45 francs, up 0.20 francs or 0.36 percent.

OK, the Nasdaq has gone to an 11 year high. More localised news, the Thailand floods wreaked havoc on the HDD and related components supply chain. While this blog picked it up at 50 sen, JCY's current price and dramatic change in fortunes seems implausible 2 months back.
If you look at the recovery in Notion Vtec, it was OK but nowhere as spectacular as some of the rest in the same industry. There is still a lot of unknowns and uncertainty as to who are the real winners and losers from the Thailand floods.
While JCY did not see any of their factories affected, and they benefited from strong additional clients. I think some investors still think Notion Vtec came off from the floods worse than before. Management has guided analysts that 1Q2012 will see revenue declining 40% q-on-q. However, there are strong newsflow from the industry that Notion Vtec actually benefited significantly from the floods as well. Apparently their Thai factory which was affected only contributed a small portion of revenue.
If one were to dig deeper, fortuitously, they have excess capacity in Klang, and it appears that they have ramped up production there owing to the fact that they have secured 3 new big clients owing to the redirection of logistic supply chain away from the affected areas in Thailand.
Some are hinting that profits and revenue are even higher now than their results prior to the floods. If that is going to be the case, then the share price should be closer to RM2.40-2.50 and not dawdling below RM2.00.
However, if you want to spot something brewing, the sharp uptick in the warrants and volume as well over the past few days may indicate some substantive good news or corporate developments to follow soon.

Hi Guys, Good news for some.
Notion (Thailand) Co. Ltd Factory affected by Floods
Date Announced : 10/02/2012
Announcement Details/Table Section :
Further to the announcements made on 11 October 2011 and 23 November 2011, the Board of Directors of the Company wishes to update on the impact to the Group arising from the floods on the operations of Notion Thailand Co. Ltd (â??Notion Thailandâ??) as follows:-
1) Following the dry out by end November 2011, Notion Thailandâ??s factory located in Ayutthaya had to be cleaned out and all affected stock and inventory were recovered. Work-in-Progress and finished goods were sent back to the Groupâ??s factory located in Klang for cleaning and recovery.
2) Electrical, telecommunication and water supply were fully restored soon after the drying out.
3) The process of insurance claim is still on-going and only expected to be completed by March 2012.
4) Notion Thailand will now recommence operations of anodising and sub-assembly of lens before June 2012 but all support for the Single-lens Reflex (â??SLRâ??) camera segment will be from the main Klang factory. As a result, the financial impact of the loss of revenue to the Group arising from our affected Thai factory will be minimal as Notion Thailand contributed less than 3% to the Groupâ??s revenue.
5) The Groupâ??s business outlook has turned for the better with a strong recovery in January 2012 sales to much higher than pre-flood level. The trend is expected to be upwards for the remainder of the financial year ending 30 September 2012 (â??FY2012â??) and beyond as the Hard Disk Drive (â??HDDâ??) segment is expected to be in short supply until mid 2013 due to backlog of orders. The average selling price of HDD is expected to remain above pre-flood level for multi-quarters ahead.
6) One of our major HDD customers is reportedly estimating full pre-flood operations by September quarter 2012.
7) With the entrance of 3 new Japanese major customers in the HDD segment and the ramp up in HDD component sales, we expect FY2012â??s revenue to grow in strong double digit over FY2011. The sustainability of this new business is expected to be good as the customersâ?? commitment is assumed to be long term.
8) Meanwhile we expect robust camera orders in February 2012 onwards as the camera segment is expected to be on route to full pre-flood operations by March 2012 while the Auto/Industrial segment remains stable.
The above is internal managementâ??s estimation and is not a forecast or projection and has not been reviewed by our external auditors.
This announcement is dated 10 February 2012.

Secured 5 new customers in HDD segment
The Edge Weekly reported that Notion VTec secured five new customers in the HDD sector â?? NHK Spring, Minebea, Nidec, Toshiba and Seagate (via recently acquired Samsung HDD), to be serviced through its Klang manufacturing plant in the near term. This is following an earlier article noting the companyâ??s newfound focus to maximise production of 2.5 inch HDD base plates to grow its HDD segment by 40 per cent.

Seagate slam-dunks flood-hit rivals with triple-profit Q2
Ships 47 million disk drives as others sink

Seagate, the world's numero uno disk drive manufacturer, notched up a brilliant second 2012 quarter with revenues and profits soaring up above flood-diminished rival WD.
Revenues were $3.2bn and net income of $563m, which compares to $2.7bn revenue and $150m net income in the year-ago quarter. A 19 per cent increase in revenues, and profits over triple â?? 3.75 times as much, to be exact â?? those of the same quarter last year is a heck of a jump... especially in these Thai flood-straitened disk drive times. We guess scarcity of supply and drive price increases account for some of this.
The company shipped 47 million disk drives in the quarter, including 700,000 Samsung drives, and its gross margin was 31.6 per cent.
With Seagate having closed its Samsung HDD business acquisition, the company is the largest disk drive manufacturer and will remain so until, firstly, WD closes its Hitachi GST acquisition and, secondly, the enlarged WD ships more drives and earns more revenue than Seagate.
That's not going to happen soon.
In its equivalent quarter, WD reported revenues of $2bn, net income of $145m, gross margin of 32.5 per cent, and shipped 28.5 million drives â?? but then it had flooded factories in Thailand, which Seagate did not (although some of its suppliers did).
In the earnings call, Seagate's executive vice president of operations, Dave Mosley, said: "To put the disaster in an economic perspective, it is by some measures the fourth-largest natural disaster in history. So far, estimates are at $45bn of damage, and 13 million lives were disrupted... As a result, all of our 20-plus product platforms experienced some form of supply interruption, and for a few products, the damage brought down the supply lines completely... our average unit costs went up approximately $2.50 in the December quarter."
Interestingly, supply chain management alterations could lead to lasting improvements. CEO, chairman and president Steve Luczo said: "Seagate dramatically reduced product configuration complexity and moved the vast majority of our fulfillment process to direct factory shipments. These efforts have fundamentally altered demand planning dynamics with our customers and have resulted in a much better alignment of supply and demand. We expect that these improvements to supply chain management will become standard practice as our industry fully recovers over the course of calendar 2012, benefiting our industry, suppliers and customers."

Hard disk drive manufacturer NOTION VTEC BHD [] seeks to dispose of its 70% stake in Swiss Impression Sdn Bhd, which is involved in the tool design for consumer electronic devices.
The company said on Wednesday, Sept 14 it was looking to dispose of the subsidiary due to the uncertain outlook of the latter's financial position and the current challenging environment for the industry.
Swiss Impression is involved in the design of tooling and volume manufacturing of high precision appearance parts using progressive die stamping for digital cameras, MP3 players and other consumer electronic devices.
Notion VTec appointed Ferrier Hodgson MH Sdn Bhd of Monteiro & Heng Chambers to assist in the proposed disposal.
It added the disposal will not have any effect on shareholder interest, earnings per share, net assets per share or gearing.
