Coming from very poor family, I studied hard. There were times I study until collapse unconsciously on the table for my SPM. One thing good about my parents were they never pressure me on anything. They were happy when I score high, they were nonchalant when I score low. My father need to go borrow money just to buy 4 reference book as my last desperate request from him after I did not do very well in Form 4 by relying only on textbooks loan by school.

The biggest mistake I made was on the eve of submitting my U course, I called up my mother, telling her I was going to go for Engineering, since I was the best student in Physics, Inorganic Chemistry, and 2nd highest in Math. I did not even take biology for my pre-U. She objected and insist on medicine. With only 1 night to think over, unable to get any advise from anybody, I relented and regret for many many years.

As a parent, I learn my lesson well.
I never pressure my children, but always expose them to useful knowledge.

At Popular, or MPH, we would push trolley of books, buying RM 1,000 plus worth of books in one go. And we shopped 3-4 times a year.

Then, I will bring them travelling, hiking, and exploring places.
From Sarawak to Sabah, KL to Melaka, Up north Taiwan to South hemisphere Australia and NZ. Expose them to different culture, environment, climate and people.

They are also guided to do sports daily just as eating meals or brushing teeth.
My motto is Play what you want, but play u must.
They can choose whatever they want to play. Football, I will buy them football; running, I will buy them shoes; basketball, hiking, swimming, they name it, I will get it for them.
