We affirm BUY on Malakoff with a higher DCF-based fair value of RM0.87/share vs. RM0.79/share previously (WACC: 7.5%) with an unchanged 3-star ESG rating. Malakoff’s 9MFY22 core net profit (ex-impairment on associate and financial assets of RM207mil) was 88% above our forecast and 68% above consensus. Malakoff’s results exceeded expectations due to higher energy payments resulting from a surge in coal costs in 3QFY22 and a lower interest expense. We raise Malakoff’s FY22E core net profit by 88% to reflect these.
Malakoff reported a headline net profit of RM90.3m (+34.5% YoY, -24.2% QoQ), though this was weighed by a one-off impairment loss on carrying value of its investment in Al-Hidd IWPP (40%-owned foreign associate in Bahrain) amounting to RM195m. Excluding this, 3QFY22 core net profit came in at RM285.3m (+>100% YoY, +>100% QoQ). Maintain our Outperform call with a DCF based target price at RM1.02. https://klse.i3investor.com/web/pricetarget/research/65496
Basically the CEO is of the view that scicom share price is now "cheap" and undervalued and the market has not seen its potential. Once announcement of their big new deals is made to the public, it will once again become the market's darling
MTAG is poised to scale higher after it underwent a bullish breakout, and pushed past the resistance point of MYR0.48. It went through a correction when it was trending below the 21- day SMA line. Crossing above the moving average line would indicate that a bullish bias has emerged. The bullish momentum should propel it towards MYR0.51, followed by MYR0.54. On the flip side, falling below the MYR0.45 support will negate the positive expectation and spark the start of a correction phase. https://klse.i3investor.com/web/blog/detail/rhbinvest/2022-10-27-story-h1651039003-Trading_Stocks_MTAG
DividendGuy67 thanks for your views on this stock, I am optimistic about its future so long as the management team is able to sail the company through this tough time and manage to increase co's competence in the tech components and LED lighting business. Also hoping for a bottom base to form to collect more tickets. Personal guess is that it may come to 2016 low at 0.95 and hopefully bounce from there.
There are only so many big companies that needs heavy customer service support in Malaysia. I guess it is normal for customers to be poached and normal to get new customers. Let's see how the management is getting through this issue
