Sostupid, why me? Why me?........I can't do it........My wife is good person, my best friends, my parent, my brother n sisters....I can't stay away from them.....isk, isk, isk
Ok bad example....you don't mean them I know. Fine. My brain wired differently from yours truly. Your holistic view, comparison approach in decision making, and business models are vastly differ from the general masses.
I am more prone to logic, fact, SOP, - but trying hard to avoid herd mentality - but when come to investment/business decision making, etc I try to separate it from my life perspectives because I believe just like Thomas Jefferson believe in separation of the church and state when he wrote the Constitution. Is different thing but the basis is the same.
Then again, I also like Mr Spock's tag line...live long and prosper....because to do so I believe we need to consciously make the 'separation' between between the two. The same goes for politics, a country's administrative governance, GLC, NGOs, etc.
Sostupid, wish you live long and prosper.
Cheers.

If someone WANTS to make make money from AAB counter, one NEEDS TF to continuously grow AAB. If TF WANTS to continuously grow AAB, TF NEEDS to have visions, NEED more planes for expansion, NEED better airport, NEED better supports from government, NEED to fulfill consumers' demands and likes - cheap fares, good service, efficient, etc.
Ehhhh wait, how come the investor WANTS & NEEDS are the same end results as TF? Someone just said we should do out of NEED but not what TF WANTS or what we WANT.
So confusing....Any Sifu here can help to explain what he/she trying to say? Maybe I don't have the correct type of brain as he/she has. Paiseh, paiseh.....

Sostupid - all your comments just prove how immature you are. Period.

First of all, leave race out in the argument. Period.
Second, TF may be very vocal n straight talking in his arguments to the point some may think to the point of arrogant. His style, personality, and his right to say what he thinks even though some of us don't agree how he present it. Fine.
Thirdly, he is arguing from the point of AirAsia, a business entity for profit & sustainability of the business. Also is one of the founders who have built the empire from scratch. He passionate and aggressive styles of managing the business - not justifications for any special privileges or rights to be accorded to him but to respect and see his arguments - representing AirAsia - points of views.
Fourth - His points of arguments on the over budget (double the initial project cost of 2B) to build KLIA2, poor build quality, poor designs, & other inefficiency cost now to be past back to the consumers and directly jeopardizing the chance to make Malaysia the low-cost-hub for Asean is a logic argument - albeit his way of present it or his outburst to the news report may have not gone so well with others like MAHB or the public.
Fifth - His arguments of creating more jobs for the locals, spur the country economy, bring in more tourism business, create international image, a win-win situation for MAHB, AAB, and all M'sian if successfully emulate what have Dubai created thru their low-cost-hub airport initiates should be given a chance to at least take a deeper considerations by the various government agencies like the transport ministry, tourism board, etc.
Instead of becoming defensive, personal ego, and over protective; individual, ministry, GLC entity, etc should all be more open minded and be more objective for the greater good of the country and consumers.

Should be all rounded when choosing a stock. Good and sustained dividend payout year in year out of course is good but like someone mentioned here even past years result will not guarantees the same for the next 3-10 years for example.
Then the share price appreciation should be considered at the same time in choosing the stock to supplement the dividend income. Touch wood if the company somehow due to whatever reasons no longer able to perform (likely dividend and share price will start to dwindle) then is time to move on to another stock. The price appreciation and the dividend combined together than should be much better compared to FD or just targeting high dividend alone stock.

For a simplified reverse calculation everyone can do to get how much you need for retirement (general estimate):
- Assuming one is retiring at 55
- Expected lifespan to 80
- No more liability / loan / children education, etc
- Maintaining 80% of current lifestyle expenses (without liability)
e.g. 5k a month = 25 x 12 x 5k = 1.5m per person
If one start saving for retirement from age 25:
1.5m/30/12 = 4.16k++/month
Note:
- The compounded interest & EPF dividend will be sufficient to cover inflation rate with a bit of extra assuming you only save in FD and from EPF saving only - minimal return)
- If one's spouse can do the same; 8.33k/month for both of you without any liability.
Good enough 8.33k/month? Every year want to go oversea holiday? Than adjust accordingly.
Worried cannot even save enough for comfortable retirement? Assuming you do not want to pass your properties / house, etc to your children, you can sell to supplement as a last resort - 500k, 1m worth?
Welcome any comments or share your thoughts on this fast n crude retirement calculation / plan.
Cheers.

......The next time any of them ask you to buy their products, first ask what they get out of it,.....There is huge conflict of interest in this industry......
Interestingly that is exactly what all business and capitalism is about. Making money or profit. Whether one is selling a product or service that is the core objective. Unless is purely for charity or 100% for humanity purpose. Even then one can argue the entity needs to cover its operation cost for providing the charity work for long term sustainability. Capitalism is not evil or bad concept...but along the way greed has somehow make this world the way it is now.
So, back to this article. Do one needs to invest during retirement - Yes n No - Depend on one's current financial standing, current protection/insurance, lifestyle spending, human nature, purpose, life aspiration, family interest, etc. All that and also taking into considerations the country/location one is retiring, inflation rate, living / medical expenses to name a few major factors.
Than, the choice or type of investments available out there. I don't agree on a general blanket statement like invest in stock market on your own will incur loss, or unit trust investment is not much better compared to FD, EPF/CPF return in the end, etc for that matter. Yes, one can say high chances, likely, but there are also many other outcome in between. What work for you best or one think is the better choice may not necessary be. Just like whether one needs to invest during retirement or not, one needs to evaluate one's financial situation, spare money, risk tolerance, return expectation, etc when choosing type of investment and also how much money and the source for the investment capital taken from.
Aren't we all always fishing for something to gain? Yes, I am too, for my own-self, & FROM my own-self.
Cheers.

Another 2-3 weeks will really start to see the pre QR release effects especially after TF n the geng start to hint on 2nd QR result and FF start to published reports on expected AAB's 2nd quarter result and TPs. Mediocre, good or excellent quarter result?
Should not expect bad result; between good and excellent is the most likely scenario since we already know the low hedged jet fuel price, the fx rate, & the expected demand/sale factoring into the April-June period. Together with the aggressive expansion plans, AA lifestyle experience PR, the KLIA2/LCCT KL to become the Asean regional low cost hub initiative, the working resolution with MAHB, and other feel good news should make this counter attractive enough to pick up the active trade demand again soon.
Cheers.

The mgt wants to solve liquidity issue, hence with share split or bonus issue and promote more of the company to institutions and retail investors seem like the way to go. Higher valuation is also what the mgt wants to achieve and this also will benefit investors. I think is a win-win situation and not necessary to compare with other companies as each has its own objectives and in different situations.

Without knowing exactly what are the charges encompass by Bursa or the detail of Bursa rights we only assume this issue involve data rights. Since Bursa can issue the right to charge, I bet there more details that we do not aware whereas KLSE.MY having their operation at stake, very likely they would have went thru all the charge details, their rights, talk to relevant authorities or parties before they have no choice but to shutdown. It may seem like unfair or ridiculous ruling but I think it may not be that simple for Bursa to be able to impose the restriction and make KLSE.MY to shutdown if just base on their whim n fancy.

Why would you want to pay for another subscription when we all already paying for our trading platform? We should try to make the platform providers to compete among themselves for our business - their subscription base - just like telco.
From my earlier posting at R.I.P. www.klse.my:
Bursa is considered monopoly business since can only have one SE for Malaysia. Unlikely it will budge. The question is how many ppl want or like to shift to trade in overseas SE completely. So Bursa knows they have this upper hand. Still think is our trading platform providers since we are paying for their services and with growing retail investors they are competing for more subscriptions base. IF say CIMB or TA trading platforms have very good centralized database and is user friendly, HLEbroking, RHB, and the like will follow suit to improve and provide similar service to compete for market share. These providers have stake and they have deep pockets to invest to grow their subscription base just like telco business.
Cheers.

I think you all have to look at different angle. Yes, is a no money, no honey world I agree. So, we should be pushing our trading platform providers to provide the centralized info and user friendly search engine. The volume traded, (amount & transactions) when added up all the charges is a lucrative business for them and they compete fiercely among them for market share. So poke them, tell your platform providers why no such user friendly centralize info database? Threatened to change providers, etc. Once the ball rolling, it will be like our telco providers keep improving their services & giving more minutes and data.
There is only one Bursa, they have no competitors...But trading platform providers are different...so we should 'bark' to a different tree so to speak.
Cheers.

2) Not limited to basic necessity products or products that require urgent needs - Of course products that always in demand should able to sell more creating higher sales/volume hence increase revenue or p.rofit in general for sustainability.
3) Using empirical data, past performance, past demand data, future demand analysis, population growth data, future trend analysis, etc will require statistic, mathematics calculations - But some common sense, gut feeling, great understanding of social and lifestyle change taking or will become a trend, future demand, etc can be great help also. Many dot com companies started with what seem ridiculous or will never take off made it big.
4) It does not matter which method or methodology is correct or better; nor does it matter whether you use 20 points calculations or 5 values to differentiate or just 2 values. Bottom line is to identify which share counter will be a potential 'value investing' counter is. Any or all of those mathematical or stats help or not is not for this round of posting.
Most welcome to share your inputs for the above. May we all learn and enrich our understanding together.

***Investment that will create greater value or appreciate from your initial cost of investment over time.

Good luck...if there is any consolation, I still have stake in AAB as of now, but I keep my option open because I can react to market changes anyway I see fit on daily basis or keep this counter until 2020 - I am totally free of restrictions on my holdings - Of course trying maximize profit.

Is more of the cautious sentiments around the world markets pre-brexit ref. date that is dampening the market now including Bursa. When decision made on 23rd June, if 1) remain in the bloc, then Bursa should pick up again but if 2) out of the bloc than it will cause more volatility to the world markets and it is that ripple effects that is going to affect Bursa sentiments.
What I am trying to say is for Malaysia, the immediate effects are not so much a direct one, is more of the ripple effects from the market reactions and sentiments around the world if Britain decided to leave.
It will be an unprecedented event if Britain leave the bloc; and because it is unprecedented, the pre-brexit period tend to cause more anxiety because no one for sure how deep it going to affect the markets around the world exactly. The same for post-brexit, no body can be sure what will happen. We hear news that say it might cause WW3 (ok that is a bit extreme), or will cause worldwide financial meltdown, world recession, to the optimistic thinkers that say the market will be well adjusted by the time the Parliament pass the bill, etc.
Of all the above some already happening and felt by Bursa this week and the rest may happen (possible) - nobody know for sure - But my personal take is no matter what fold out from this, Bursa will mostly effected due to the ripple effects or reactions from the major markets around the world like Dow Jones, Japan, Europe, China etc. due to Brexit.
Have a good weekend.
Cheers.

Lim123, I already told what I think for the whole week......the plane will be grounded for 1 week or so before we can see some real actions.............:)
More on sideways as the market will be cautious because of Brexit and I think major players will try not to commit or add much to their holding anymore and if the price is right is more bias towards disposing or decreasing their holdings in share market.
