somo 1, by Q3 last year, everyone in the oil seed industry already know La Lina already hit South America again. Canada rapeseed is tight. Malaysia CPO selling at US 1079 in July 2021.
All these info are easily accessible.
I just cannot believe they just went ahead to hedge the 7-12months, above 12 months production in such a large quantity as compare to 2020.
I just have the impression that UP think excellent in operation is good enough but just don't care about maximizing the profit by financial means. OR maybe some hanky panky in their forward selling.

I would say they are doing an excellent job in managing the plantation but a shitty job in hedging.

Pinky, Lyo82 what you said is correct because I bought it for the same reasons.
I do not expect them to have a an ASP of 5k like other companies.
But forward contract for 12 month and above for this year is really a mistake.
Last year it's only 5.6k whereas this year is 62K. It's that what you call consistency nad stability? As for 6 to 12 mths hedging, last year was only 10k, this year is 58k.
That is why I'm saying they are getting too complacent n did not do their job properly.

Most likely it will affect the 2022 Q1 result. You can look at 2021 1Q!, it's the same issue.
It's just that it will be more this Q. They become too complacent and are actually sleeping on their job, even without the war. If i'm not wrong La Nina warning started in end May, that's why I do not understand why they go and pre sell their 2022 production so much. Also Argentina and South Brazil soybeans already sound alarm very early in end August but they go and pre sell the 2023 production so much at such a low price. Really disappointed with their forward selling management.

Their advantages are low cost n high yield.

They are too complacent, they think it work last time, so it will work this time. Never review their forward contract strategy yearly. If you look at 2023 forward contract, already commit 62k ton at 3470 whereas in 2020 their forward contract for 2021 is only 5.6K tons. it is a big disappointment.

Sardin, the Q2 2021 ASP was 2967. not much different from their 1H 2021 forward contract price. That's why UP price did not shoot up like rocket compare to other plantation stock.

Sardin, Just look at the 2021 forward contract price 2880, actual selling price as per Q1 2021 was 2892. Difference was not much.

Sardin, 1Q production around 55k ton or less (17.5% is Indo production which fetch less ASP). Increase in fertilizer cost.

Hopefully can buy below 14 lo.

I wish I can buy below 14,. Just check the forward contract you will know how much is their dividend this year. Also you will have a rough idea how much is next year dividend.

Unker, those that are not efficient may have a big correction but will not go down like glove.
For UP, just check the weekly n monthly chart. You'll get the answer.

I only know 1 thing, UP fundamental unchanged hence price sustainable.

Glove n Palm r different. You can build a glove factory in 6 months. Do you think you can increase palm oil production in 6 months? The main problem is world vege oil production can not meet demand due to climate change. Further aggravated by the Ukraine/Russia war. It may take more than 2 years for everything to be back in normal.
