simon: if i could remember from last fomc, janet did mentioned that the US economy should be ready for rate hike towards the end of this year. Further, their recent advocate to the EU to resolve the Greek issue hopefully to keep Greece in the eurozone suggest to me that they foresee a rate hike in the near future is not viable. Hence, I would think the hike might be late of this year. They wouldnt want to create more shakes when there are numerous shakes around currently.

It is sad yet hard reality. Even the Fitch statement provides some form of indirect 'condolences' and if there is one simple message I construe from Fitch to 'whoever'...'In consideration of the hardship/detriment on the people in this country, we shall extend our empathy for now on the presumption that you jolly well wake up for your people'. :)

Thanks for the article. Surely that's a relief. I've attached a chart of the Malaysian 10y Govt Bonds price below too and they seem to have spiked so the news was well received by the market. If this hadn't happened I believe the currency would have still been under pressure.

(My identity had been 'mugged' for confidentiality reason)
