What’s New? MyEG announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, MyEG Capital S/B, has signed an agreement with Jingle Magic (Beijing) Technology Co, Ltd to invest in Chinese Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) with an investment cost of USD1.49m (equivalent to CNY10m or MYR6.1m).

Jingle Magic is mainly involved in the development of VR, AR and AI based educational equipment and software. The company is recognized as a major AR/VR/AI and 3D internet education platform provider in China. Jingle’s key products include AI-based AR smart desk, AI smart board as well as diversified internet system infrastructure solutions for schools.

This tie up would reduce its dependency on the Malaysian market. This investment marks its second investment in China. Note that last year, MyEG had also signed an agreement to invest in a Guangzhou based company, Ximmerse which involved in mobile AR and VR.

Expanding its market presence. While it may be too early to assess its financial impact, MyEG’s China venture fits nicely into its regional presence. Currently, the group has also expanded into the Philippines. Earlier this year, its 40%-owned joint-venture company, I-Pay MYEG Philippines Inc, had launched an online insurance portal namely MyEG Insurance, which will enable users to access a diverse range of insurance coverage from leading insurers in the Philippines.

Near term earnings hinges on existing operations. In the near-term, MyEG’s earnings, however, will continue to hinge on its existing operation namely the concession service, which include but not limited to the renewal of foreign workers insurance and work permits, renewal of motor vehicle insurance and road tax; the testing, issuance and renewal of drivers’ licenses; and vehicle ownership transfer.

Setbacks. In terms of challenges, MyEG is operating in a competitive market. It is noted that a new player, MyPay, also aims to be a one-stop e-government service platform provider, offering services such as information check-up (i.e. licence expiry and election location), student loan payment, local council and police summons, assessment and quit rent, and insolvency. Recently, it was also quoted that MyEG has been identified as one of the monopolies that are being reviewed by the government.

Valuation. The street is forecasting a 14.9% 2-year EPS CAGR for FY9/19-21. Brokers are bullish on the stock with five Buys and a mean target price of MYR1.72. This is likely underpinned by the group’s healthy profit margin of > 50% and rollout of new e-government service. At current price, the stock is trading at 19.6x consensus FY6/19 EPS of 7.8 sen.
