I can't help myself from commenting...

Those idiot out there...there is no possible way that the result gonna be green y.o.y as Q2,16 was an outliers. 12x its nominal profits. What's important here is they finally rewards the investor with 0.5 Sen dividend and they are still in the green.

Expect 100% growth y.o.y and q.o.q is crazy. Ask yourself la. If you pay Rm10 for nasi lemak last year, do u find your paying RM20 this year? If there were 10million customers last year, do u see a sudden surge to 20million this year? Please realistic with ur expectation.

They are operating within reasonable growth direction and the averaged earning has increased with extra distributable cash for dividend.

use logic and think la...to make money, syndicate himself have to buy low and sell high....

So, syndicate makes money when he is selling when the price is on the way up or sells when the price is on the way down?

If i'm a shark with insiders new, here's how I will run the monkey show...
Before a Good QR out, I create a panic sell to collect. When QR out...tadaaahhhhh! Market will panic buy at high. I sell sell sell...
Before a Bad QR out, I create a panic buy to sell. When QR out...tadaahhhh! It's none of my business as I have already sold all my holdings...

What would really concern you is when, gap down with no volume.

Only way to not get trap in this monkey show is take some course on security analysis, learn some basic account and do homework if you are buying at discount and what's the counter is gonna worth in next 4-12 quarters and follow each QR closely and make friend with ivy.

I help them...I help them...
PMetal boleh dan tetap boleh...happy? =D

meistsk3134, that would be me.
PE varies from sectors and what market deemed safe. Logistics/Tech trades at very crazy high PE, investment industry trades at crazy low PE. Airasia is pretty darn low. PE 6 with EPS 53sen.
Near term catalyst for AirAsia is commonwealth games. It's gonna report another sick earnings next coming quarters. Why is it not trading at PE18? My take is, Mr. Market doubts if Airasia can maintains it's 18sen EPS per quarter.

Let say Counter A has 10 bros in similar business called Counter B-K. They all trade at PE 10. total EPS 10sen for 4 rolling quarters for every dollar or 100sen investment/Price. Suddenly Counter A trades at PE20. Any person in the right mind would ask, why people are willing to buy 2 times more expensive than EPS for any other counter. The reason could be "news" that earnings will improve. For PE to back down to PE10, Counter A with PE20 trading at RM2.00 with EPS 10sen from QR report will have to earn EPS 20sen the next quarter or coming quarters to come.

Now, how to get EPS 20sen. It could be Case 1: 3sen, 3sen, 3sen for 3 quarters in the past and then suddenly 11sen the next quarter. Or Case 2: next 4 quarters with 5sen, 5sen, 5sen, 5 sen.

Hence, PE is an inverse function of EPS. Case 1 is unlikely. Case 2 is probably the case for PMetal. Based on the good news, it's foreseeable that EPS will improve for PMetal in coming quarters, hence the relatively higher PE now. Let say case 2 happens to Counter A, EPS improves to EPS 20 and Mr. Market willing to trade at PE 12-14 a year later. That would be RM2.40-RM2.80, 20%-40% return from a price you bought at RM2.00 a year earlier at PE 20.

I agree with Hunger that it's a not sure thing. For a Pmetal to leap it's EPS from 4 sen to 8 sen,
most straight forward way into increase production from 760000 tonnes to 1520000 tonnes. That doesn't happen overnight. If it does, EPS 32sen a year later. You can do your calculation on your earnings yourself a year later at any PE you like. That's gonna be handsome return anyway.

In the end of the days, any investors...ANY with common sense would want to buy a companies earning at lowest price. That means crazy low PE and crazy high ROE and guaranteed future? Where to find? That's knowledge you may acquire if you spend your time reading 900 pages a day like Warren Buffet or Charlie Munger.

TL;DR: Ideal case is, crazy improvement on EPS at low PE. Or else, crazy high PE must have crazy improvement on EPS. Do your own judgement on the price on the earnings this company you are willing to pay for.

LPTan68, early stage turnaround or start up does hv very high PE. For a established stable commodity dependant business, e.g. aluminium, the PE shouldn't trade too far off average. If it does, In my opinion, (I'm sure i'm entitled to my opinion) I would probably think the market has already trading at future earnings with relatively higher PE.

Then, the remaining questions is, how much more money can the company make in future and if the price i'm buying now is at discount. PE is just one of the indicator if you are buying future earnings at discount. I'm sure u like discount right?

The way the NOOB me sees it, average return on safe investment is 5%. Trading at PE20 means For every 1 dollar/100sen you invest gives 5sen earning, and if dividend pays 5 sen per annum. You only break with any ordinary safe investment. So, any counter you choose has to be do better. About PE 7 - 15? Returns will be 15% ~ 7% respectively. That's what a good business will do for you in the long run. Let say average PE in the sector is 10, and the stock you are interested has a PE20, for the PE to come down to 10, the earnings has to be doubled, either immediately next quarter or gradually few quarters. If a company has the means to immediately level the PE 20 to PE 10 in one quarter; then the market will immediately trade future earning into current PE of PE30, 35 or 40? considering it's ability to make money. And if the earnings didn't improve drastically to reflect the current high PE, market will correct itself depending on the estimate amount of time needed. Rule of thumb, the longer it needs, the faster it falls. For case where PE is extremely low; likely, they have sold something. EPS spikes momentarily. And if whatever they sold causes them to stop making money. Stay far far away. They might have just killed the dying goose that laid the last golden egg.

That's my rule on quick glance on a counter. If want to strictly follow WB or Graham's method, you might hv to go yamcha or "drinking" session with the CEO, CTO, CFO, COO and also whoever they are banging man. Very tidious work. And when ya done; yes! By all means, keep indefinitely.

P.S. Before you guys whoop my noobie up and down the field; just see things in a positive light. I really took the trouble to write and share you guys my findings. Instead of punting "golden palace! golden palace! golden palace!". That's very deceitful for new comers to support the price or "Sell, sell, sell" to trigger panic selling. If your research is correct and it's trading at the price that gives return that you are happy with. Sell! If your research says it's worth more, keep! Spare animosity towards one another.

Jefflim1234, you are not very good at making a rebuttal. Indeed "Knowledge makes a person humble n arrogance makes a person ignorant". But it has no relevance to our differences here. Keep quoting WB will serve you ill man. Because I admit my ignorance, I dare not make claim like "ALCOM the golden palace" unlike you. I have no ability project 10 years into the future. “If you are not willing to own a stock for 10 years, do not even think about owning it for 10 minutes.”-WB. What he is trying to say is "know what the hell you are doing, or else, don't bother".
He is not trying to tell you to be patient. Common sense should tell you pure waiting won't bear you any fruits.

Well, people lock in their profit. U can't buy shit with paper gain. If I sell, I buy few Pradas for my gf without hurting my own pocket. How about it? Good enough reason to sell?

Once the capital repayment was proposed, I'm pretty the market has already absorb the upside reward by trading at PE24. That's paying a price way into its future earnings.

The question now is, how far into the future you are willing to pay? That's like saying a 2000sq ft condo in bangsar will sell in 10mil in future, so it's cheap to buy at 5mil now. It does sound cheap if put this way. The question is when? My great great great grandson time?

On the hand, I have an agent come to me and say there is a buyer who wants to buy at 5 mil now, I will be more than happy to sell it right away and buy myself a Lambo first.

That's exactly what happening this counter. There are people that's convinced it will go up to RM3. There are people that wants lambo first.

In the end of the day, you decide if you want future RM10 or lambo now. So, what is it?
