KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd topped the losers counter in early trade after posting a weaker third quarter (Q3) performance.

At 10.48am, its shares were down 34 sen or 6.42 per cent, with 641,700 shares changing hands.

For the Q3 of financial year 2014, Pos Malaysia's pre-tax profit declined to RM33.7 million from RM45.64 million recorded in the same period previously.

Revenue, however, rose to RM329.74 million from RM313.26 million
previously.



Kenanga Research said Pos Malaysia's results came in below
expectation and only stood at 62 per cent of the research house and consensus full-year forecast due to higher-than-expected operating costs.

However, it said in a research note today, Pos Malaysia is looking to grow its profitable courier and logistics segment by leveraging on its wide Pos Laju network.

It said the postal company also plans to extract further synergies from Kuala Lumpur Airport Services (KLAS), a wholly-owned unit of DRB-Hicom Bhd and Pos Malaysia, to create an efficient logistics management service.

Kenanga Research said to strengthen its retail segment, Pos Malaysia is transforming itself into a one-stop solution centre, especially with the growth of its Islamic pawn-broking (Ar-Rahnu) business.

Looking ahead, it said Pos Malaysia is staying on course in implementing and delivering its five-year Strategic Plan initiated in 2012, currently into its second phase, to create an efficient and effective foundation that will provide the strength and stability to support revenue diversification, in line with best practices of other successful postal organisations.

Nevertheless, due to the poor set of Q3 results, Kenanga Research is downgrading Pos Malaysia's financial year 2014 and financial year 2015 by 15 per cent each, taking into account the higher operating costs.

The research house, however, has maintained a 'market perform' view on the postal company but revised downwards its target price to RM5.13 from RM5.39 previously.-- Bernama

yea. I was disappointed with Mr Koon. He bog rsawit at low. When rsawit prices at 0.80 he promoted it. I bog following his advice. Then I kept it for long term as he told us to do so. Even when rsawit went down below 0.80. i still hold. But I WAS SHOCKED WHEN HE WROTE THAT HE HAD SOLD ALL!
Now I am not amused.
