Bounced back up again .....yahoo!!!

Based on recent reported earnings, I'll guess 4 sen dividend & I'm being optimistic here.

philip31 I think you are spot on.

Also your comment on the 12th August seem to jive with the sudden surge in the price.

KJ value down simply because of demand and supply. With EPF reducing its stake at every opportunity over time, the price would certainly decline. However this market value does not reflect its true much higher value as reflected by its ability to consistently generate positive earnings.

This makes KJ nice & ripe target for a takeover!

Sure that happens when there's not enough delta in the warrant i.e. if it's way out-of-the-money.

In layman's terms, the share price is way below the strike price.

Warrants are highly leveraged instruments. Hence a small price move on the mother share would logically have a magnified move on the warrant.

If you are absolutely certain that the share price is going to rise and by when (e.g. if your good buddy is the chairman i.e. insider trading of sorts), then you should buy warrants (albeit illegal). You'll make a ton of money.

If slightly better than the last quarter, I'll be very happy - extrapolating over a year, it will be more than able to pay the same annual dividend of 20 sen.

The share price is low because EPF is dumping it every opportunity it gets. Maybe it's fed up with the low dividends & poor capital gains.

The quarterly earnings has been very volatile. In recent history, it has ranged from -17.60 to +27.47. Anybody want to hazard a guess as to the quarterly earnings ending June 16? Not much at stake - just a pound of your flesh hehe.

Ok I'll guess 1 sen - mitigated by the impact of the recent explosion.

See who can guess the closest. Come on let's have some fun!

Buy - The management comes across as prudent & honest. Furthermore the co has bought back shares in excess of 7% of the total issue.

picked up some KJ.

Based on the data I gathered over the past few years, KJ had never registered any quarterly loss. It's dividends had always been far less than its EPS. This stingy but capable management can only mean that the company is severely undervalued,

I hate it when a company declares a long fuse dividend i.e. to be paid in a very distant future. It's just a tactic to keep the share price high.

Par value is nothing more than a psychological benchmark for many an investor.

Imagine that you bought 2 houses - 1st for RM100k (in Bangsar) & 2nd for RM1m (in Seremban). After 10 years, the market value for both are RM2m. Would a potential buyer consider the original developers' prices? I say No.

Both houses have the same net asset value. The only difference is that the first is 100k capital & 1.9m gain while the 2nd is 1m capital & 1m gain - purely a classification. I don't think anyone should get more excited with the first house if the seller reclassifies the gain & said that he bought the Bangsar house for RM1m.

The odd thing is that the management still has yet to come out with an official announcement on the extent of the damage.

In the name of good governance and to prevent insider trading, information should be quickly disseminated as they are discovered. Issues like whether insurance will cover, how long before restoration, what was the cause - human error etc.

Par value is irrelevant as one should focus on the net asset per share.

There was a write-up in the Star Saturday 25 June. It said that investors are apprehensive about Toto shares despite its low PE and high dividend yields which was attributed to major shareholder selling at below market price. It did say that the sell-off was to fund the shareholders cash flow needs rather than the company's prospects.

Of course we have to ask ourselves as to whether it was an independent view. Be a natural skeptic.

If he gives it to his crony then it should rightfully compensate at fair value. The trouble is that market value is the best indicator of fair value. At such depressed prices, the new owner can buy it for a song.

Naturally we the existing shareholders will be the losers.

Who's got the guts to dive in? Come on be a man! Prices today is the lowest over 5 years.

Is there a basis? Perhaps. Among others - Threat of hudud, increased GST, gaming license not renewed etc.

But on the other hand would the government kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

One of the directors said that it's more a "recession-resistant" business - meaning that it is still affected by recession but not a lot.

Mamatede - agreed that the govt is stupid to increase taxes on this business but the bigwigs are more intelligent to allow this to happen because I suspect (though without proof) that some of them may have their grubby hands in the cookie jar.

It may not have sovereign funds but it has 2 of the largest insurance companies with significant stakes.

I agree with you 100% Somo1.

In fact that's what I had been harping as a shareholder of BToto as well - share-buybacks and then axe them to shore up EPS. But instead we get shares as dividend in specie.

It's also fine to invest in MM unit trust for some yield (as there's greater flexibility with the resultant asset). However at today's prices buybacks look more compelling.
