gungho92 tell that to Magnum, they have decreasing profit in the past 5 years yet paying more and more dividend. But I agree with you, if they have less profit but maintain their dividend policy, they will need to tap into cash reserve for payout. That is assuming if profit is lower. But we cannot say for sure how are Padini's earnings will be in the next few years, right?

Actually even if Teo Seng's profit remain the same, they might be able to payout more dividend. A few reasons to support this:
1. Cash balances of 39m as of last Q report. Gearing still considered low.
2. Growing dividend trend from 2010 - 0.85sen, 2011 - 1.4sen, 2012 - 1.75sen, 2013 - 2.5sen, 2014 - 10sen.
3. Free Cash Flow vs Revenue is at 11.45% (anything above 10% is cash rich).
4. Growing owner's earnings (one of the main things Warren Buffet will look into).

Kkbull, I doubt raya & puasa will affect Teo Seng's earnings by alot. Teo Seng mostly export to Singapore, and Malays there represent 13.3% only of total population (2014 demographic report). There definitely will be a slight increase in consumption during Raya period though.

While KLCI is marching upwards, Teo Seng going downwards. What is going on I do wonder? Someone purposely sell to keep the price low? Or someone thinks that the lower egg price in Malaysia will affect Teo Seng? Maybe they forgot Teo Seng export mostly to Singapore....

I think upsidedown119 might be referring to the 'stockist'. Have a good read here: http://www.thestar.com.my/Business/Business-News/2014/08/23/Dont-be-fooled-by-the-high-trading-volume/?style=biz
I'm not sure how Bursa can make this LEGAL at all. But don't worry, they usually go for counters priced less than RM1 because they have liquidity.

Sometimes, when a stock is too liquid, wolves will come and play the 'pump and dump' strategy. Just like the counters in the Top 10 Active Counters. It's not really good for investors as price will go up and down. It does not generate value. Management should only intervene and initiate shares buy back when the price of share is undervalued. Right now, I think the price is fair. Just my personal opinion.

Stock

Not really. Government is controlling the price. If they allow price to float, then yes, competition can lower the price.

kcwong98 I do not know what is your style of investment or risk tolerance as everyone is different. But I do have a stock pick selection for 2015 in my profile, you can have a look there. Please take note that selection does not reflect my actual portfolio that I'm holding with real money, and that is also not a call for BUY on any of those stocks. Do make your own research and analysis beforehand. :)

limayseng that is the point of consolidation: to deter market manipulation and protect investors. Why get so excited over a company that no longer have core biz? That is why management wants to curb people from pumping up the stock and dump it when the price is high. Plus think about it, 10000 units of RM 0.40 is RM 4000. 2000 units of RM 2.00 is also RM 4000. The cost is still the same. But you are better protected from the ups and downs in high trading volume. I say it's a good move.

It is funny how people talk as if everyone have the same taste for everything. Ever heard of the saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure"? Sure, you may like some other brands. But there will always be someone who will regard whatever you treasure as trash. It applies to many things including clothing, shoes, accessories, house, car, partner/spouse etc. etc. You get the idea. At the end of the day, different people will always have different taste and budget for everything.

Look at the reported revenue. Is it going down? No? Why is it increasing? Does increased revenue equals to better sales? Does better sales translate as a brand that people will buy? Why are the earnings going down? Is it something temporary? Or will this be an on-going trend for years to come? Is the management doing something about it? So many questions that we can ask ourselves and yet so few willing to find out (and instead jump the gun).

In my opinion, let's see what the management can do about this situation before we jump to any conclusion. BUY/HOLD/SELL? Please make your own research and analysis before making a decision. Do not let anyone else dictate what to do with your money. It's your hard earn money after all. Are you willing to take the risk and blindly follow others?

And lastly, Happy CNY and Gong Xi Fa Cai to all. Please stay safe while traveling this festive season.

To some of these people saying that Padini is losing out due to competition from H&M, Uniqlo, etc. etc...Please check Wing Tai's latest Q report: http://www.bursamalaysia.com/market/listed-companies/company-announcements/1875509

Wing Tai owns part of Uniqlo in Malaysia, and their retail revenue and profit also decreased. So not only Padini is affected, but the retail sector as in whole is currently affected.

The treasury shares amounting to only around 1%. It is not much, but the gesture is much appreciated, especially when valuations are already on the high side. It showcase good management by protecting and benefiting investors. You can see some other companies selling their treasury shares for profits instead to 'raise funds' when they already have sufficient funds. Try to look around and you can see the trends for some of these companies. Buy back when price is low and selling them when the price is high.

That means in the past 5 days average trading price of Teo Seng shares is RM1.84 per share. Bonus issue of shares is 1 bonus unit per 2 shares held. So in theory, after bonus is issued, price will be spread to RM1.23 per share (two third of RM1.84). From there, the warrant price is fixed at *ex-bonus price plus 10%* which is RM1.23 x 10% = RM1.35 per warrant. That's roughly how to explain it...

There is nothing wrong in buying if the price is less than the NTA (40sen). But with Mark Chang already said that need to wait at least 1 year before anything significant to happen, you might as well put your money elsewhere that will grow faster.

It's good to see there are still long term holders here. You can hold onto any company for indefinite amount of time as long as the fundamentals remain good. Just like what Warren Buffet did. Also, do not expect roller coaster rides all the time. If you want some excitement, might as well go for those highly traded counters or to the casino. Chances of you losing or winning money there is much higher!

Teo Seng is considered close to its fair valuation. To be able to reach a higher price, they will need to report higher earnings in the next Q report to support it. Price will most likely float around the current price until the Q report out later this month.

Then Jobstreet core business will remain with the company and price will fall down to pre-disposal announcement price I think. Which will be fine as it is a really good business to keep in the first place. The only thing is need to compete with JobsDB again.
