KC, no doubt I can sleep soundly each night whether market rally or crash. My selection criteria enable me to throw out the weak ones and list down the remaining strong ones.

However, valuation wise might be tough. Not all can be bought at this moment. I'm sure most can be bought during market downturn just like you said.

Am I too stringent? Perhaps time will tell.

Probability, FCF means free cash flow. The amount of 'free cash' generated from operations cash flow after minus out capital expenditure. High FCF vs revenue means high free cash generated from sales which is good(usually above 5%).

ROAE is a slight variantion of ROE which is Return of Equity but i calculate based on average equity to offset any spike in equity portion. Usually high ROE is good. But I would say ROIC will be a better indicator for calculating return of capital employed.

I prefer on earnings and cash flow. If you go for NTA, make sure to employ Margin of Safety.

Desire to win? Don't want to think about risk? Only think about how much you might get back in return?

Come. Let me take you to the casino. I know of a perfect spot for you. What are you doing trading in stocks? Your return might not be very high. On the other hand, in the casino, your return is 100%. Also, if you lose, is 100% too. Can be done in matter of minutes or seconds.

Don't waste your time rambling about instincts in stock market. Go to the casino. Winner takes it all.

A company paying high dividend does not necessarily means they have positive free cash flow. Also the reverse is true. Companies with positive free cash flow may not necessarily pay dividends.

From what I can see from this list, most likely the following is observed:
1. High Dividend yield
2. Company have positive free cash flow
3. Price to free cash flow ratio is attractive enough

a lot of high dividend shares are not in the list. he is probably a proxy for YTL for it's very unimpressive share price performance.

Good find. If your calculations above are correct, all stocks mentioned here have Price to Free Cash Flow ratio below 20 which is considered quite alright.

Also, you will be interested to know that FCF cow comapnies can generate a good return in the long run in the US market. Based on Old School Value's backtesting method for 17 year period from year 1999 to 2015, CAGR is 13.24%, outpacing Magic Formula (CAGR 11.02%) during the same period.

@jamesliew, technically I didn't buy jobstreet in the market at 1.35. Rather, that is the price traded after the special dividend payback to shareholders. 27cents per share ex dividend and adjusted to consolidation of 5 shares to 1, the price is 1.35. Why do I consider it as cost instead of 'free'? Because I could have sold the shares at 27 cents higher in the market pre ex-dividend. That can be considered as a cost to me.

Quarter result is out, good result. Profit before tax increase by around 100% and 0.6cent dividend announced.

nearownkira, actually reason no.1 was not there when I buy. Ringgit was much stronger back then. But I agree reason 2 & 3 already exist then. Back then, I thought Teo Seng's profit will not be highly affected by the local egg prices as they also export to Singapore market. It was some time after I bought that I realized their export accounts only roughly 30% of their egg production while the rest goes to the local market.

You can say that it's a learning process for me. I should have done more extensive research before consider buying in the first place.

Hi Galvin Wong, I think I will pass on Aemulus. It is fairly new listed company and the latest Q report shows a loss. I will give it a few years before I even consider it. I usually go for companies already listed for at least 5 years just to be safe.

As for the property sector, I expect it will remain subdued especially in the Klang Valley. In my personal opinion, companies that build affordable houses will stand to gain more compared to others as the demand for these houses remain strong. The only problem will be the loan rejection rate, in which I read from an article is quite high in Klang Valley.

So, if you are really looking to invest in the property sector, perhaps look for companies that build affordable houses. I have one in my portfolio, Huayang, although it is more for dividend play (DY 7%).

ykhoe, as I have mentioned, chicken feed price still low. But sold in USD. Teo Seng will have to fork out more Ringgit to purchase.

For egg prices, I remember there was a gov website for it but I can't recall at this moment.

JT Yeo raised valid points. For his point no.2, a more diversed portfolio is needed (i.e. 10 stocks or more). But when point no.1 comes, everything will go down south.

In my opinion, margin call can be used when the following is observed:
1. Your risk tolerance is very high. Many business owners/entrepreneurs share this trait.
2. When market hit rock bottom. So deep down that prices will not go down further. But do you know when will that moment come?

Also, going for margin call when prices are high or when market in general is very bullish amounts to suicide as well. More downside than upside.

Just my 2 cents.
