Pan Borneo development

One of the most significant of these projects is the Pan Borneo Highway, connecting the states of Sarawak and Sabah on the island of Borneo with Brunei Darussalam.

The government is currently finalising technical and financial aspects of route’s phase two construction, which is expected to begin in 2018 and will run from the towns of Limbang and Lawas in Sabah through Brunei to Sarawak in west Borneo.

All 11 works packages having been awarded for the Sarawak section, and five of the 35 contracts for the Sabah stretch are expected to be handed out later this year.

We refer to the prospectus of the KIP REIT dated 30 December 2016 which states that the first distribution in respect of the period from KIP REIT’s date of establishment to 30 June 2017 (“the said Period”) would be paid by the Manager within two months from the end of the said Period and thereafter on a half yearly basis or such other intervals as the Manager may determine at its absolute discretion.

The Manager wishes to announce that with the approval of the Trustee, Pacific Trustees Berhad, the distribution income policy of KIP REIT would be changed from a half yearly basis to a quarterly basis. Hence, the first distribution income would be for the period ended 31 March 2017 and subsequently, on a quarterly basis during the continuance of KIP REIT.

As we have recorded our best performance by year for FYE 2016,
we are now looking forward to FYE 2017 with our target remains
optimistic. We believe that the more secured and stable market
conditions and also the stability of crude oil price are able to provide better business environment.
However, the main challenge is the rising USD against the Ringgit
Malaysia. This proves to be a challenge as it is tough for businesses
to maintain costing and thus, prices tend to fluctuate. We remain
neutral but optimistic in our PVC and Solar segments. With better
and improved cost-effectiveness mechanism, we believe we
can achieve our 16th consecutive profitable financial year.

The Group’s borrowings decreased by 44.1% from RM104.43
million in previous financial year to RM58.3 million due to the
lesser utilisation of banking facilities. We managed to reduce
our term loan and is looking to fully repay it in financial year ending 2017 (“FYE 2017”).
