Though there is a new trend developing, generally Malaysians tend to trust the judgement and decisions of authorities.

The Securities Commission’s Sharinah Mohamed Iqbal, a partner of PKF Malaysia, did not put a challenge against SC’s Audit Oversight Board (AOB) reprimand for breaching section 31Z(1)(b) of the Securities Commission Malaysia Act 1993 (SCMA) this week. Certain quarter of the public will assume Sharinah deserve it.

They failed to realise that the last time SC reprimanded an audit firm, AOB was sued for RM35 million and their sanction against the firm of Afrizan Tarmili Khairul Azhar quashed by the High Court.

Putting aside any possibility of racial prejudice, Malaysians, even the nationalistic and patriotic ones, tend to look lowly at local audit firm and look up to the foreign-owned Big 4 Audit firms with admiration. This biasness is further enhanced by their dominant presence and close working relation with the establishments.

The Edge weekly issue of August 16 – 22, two weeks ago still gave face to the SC Chairman, Dato Syed Zain Albar whose only comment on the Serba Dinamik affair is to pick on the new Chairman of the Company’s claim to have met and discussed with both SC and Bursa. It was The Edge weekly issue of June 7-13 issue that inflicted the most damage to Serba’s reputation with RM4.9 billion capitalisation wiped out from the market.

The mystery remained whether there was basis for KPMG to complain direct to SC and followed up by a police report without seeking response from the client, namely Serba. SC and Bursa seemed to be dragging their feet.

A financial portal, http://www.theaccsense.com reported on the KPMG reasonings. There are questions that need be raised.

It is preposterous for Serba to not provide the right contact and information for KPMG to confirm. Any company, decent or sly, would want to get the audit over and carry on their business. It is unimaginable for a PLC to give a long list of false information and get caught red handed doing a cover-up by the obvious of mistakes.

As far as the existence of customers, did KPMG confirm the non-existence of Serba’s customers merely by calling the receptionist at the front desk? If they made site visit of the Middle Eastern vendors, could they be wrongly directed for misreading the numerical and Arabic symbols on the address? Was the verification done using the open source app which may not necessary provide accurate information for verification?

Auditors are usually petty as it provide leads to possible frauds. However, being petty over for example, L.L.P. versus LLP would show a lack of common sense similar to picking on the issue of Sdn Bhd over Sdn. Bhd.

Nevertheless, the issues raised in the portal should have been dealt with Serba than being an alarmist to go straight to the authorities. It is only fair for the company to be heard.

Since the company responded to Bursa’s announced enquiry dated May 28th , why do both Bursa and SC still unable to verify and subsequenty investigate any questionable allegations made by KPMG after three months?

KPMG is the auditor for Petronas and could have inklings on Serba’s business dealings as an Oil & Gas contractor. If that led to their prejudice against Serba, that is an advantage in their auditing of another client.

However, should it be due to insidious intentions, it has caused irreparable damage to the company’s financial status and reputation within the industry and financiers. A major audit scandal of global preportion could blow up in Malaysia. Is that causing Bursa and SC to procrastinate and the media shy SC Chairman fire fighting with an interview?

KUANTAN (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Malaysia's Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob will unveil his new Cabinet line-up on Friday (Aug 27), his office said after the newly-appointed premier's audience with the King on Thursday.

The Prime Minister's new Cabinet will be sworn in on Monday.

"The swearing-in of Federal ministers and deputy Federal ministers will take place on Aug 30, at 2.30pm," said the Prime Minister's Office.


Earlier on Thursday, Mr Ismail had met the King in Kuantan.

Mr Ismail, Malaysia's ninth Prime Minister had left the Istana Abdulaziz in Kuantan around 1.40pm, having arrived around 10.54am and it is believed the audience was to discuss Mr Ismail's proposed Cabinet list.

Malaysia's King, Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah, later consented to the presentation of the list of new Cabinet members by Prime Minister Ismail, the National Palace said in a statement on Thursday.

"During the royal audience which lasted about an hour and 30 minutes, the King had accepted the presentation of the new Cabinet list from the Prime Minister, following his swearing-in as the ninth Prime Minister," the statement read.

The newly-minted premier was supposed to have presented the list to the King, for approval on Wednesday before announcing the new ministers.

However, the audience with Sultan Abdullah was postponed with the King in Kuantan.

Sources have said that Mr Ismail is pressed to form a Cabinet before Aug 31 as a government needs to be formed in time for Hari Merdeka, or Independence Day. Malaysia has never been without a government during Independence Day.

When i fist joined, i heard the opportunity to make some quick bucks trading here. but all i see is these floods of slander and hate towards the company. no wonder stock value plummeted like hell. some more if you post anything out of positive value, straightaway you'll get branded as dupes and fanatic what not. these people should get their asses burned.

I think everyone can say anything but to pretend and using the CEO name, is definitely not right and a violation Media law, so I agree lah SD/DK sue whoever pretend to be the CEO, and KLSE Screener is reposnible to filter that. delete/remove, apologise setel lah tuh.

Karim: S&P’s rating downgrade is temporary, all concerns addressed

YESTERDAY’S downgrading of Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd’s rating by S&P Global Ratings is “very much expected given the current circumstances” and “has probably been priced into” the company’s stock value.

Above all else, head honcho and founder of the global integrated oil & gas (O&G) outfit, Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah, opined that the downgrade is temporary.

“Serba is positive to ensure that the both our audit and SIR (special independent review) will be completed on time,” he told FocusM. “Once this is completed, we should be able to restart our refinancing process and address the maturity of our borrowings.”

Abdul Karim also noted that Serba Dinamik has recently bagged 15 new O&G service contracts wins valued at an estimated RM386.3 mil in the areas of operations & maintenance (O&M) and engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC).

The group managing director and CEO of Serba Dinamik was commenting on the latest move by S&P to downgrade Serba Dinamik to “CCC” from “B-” previously to reflect the company’s sizable debt maturities of some RM1.7 bil within the next nine months.

The global rating agency further noted that they see Serba Dinamik’s challenges surrounding its special independent review and statutory audit to be a roadblock to the company’s ability to get external sources of funding.

“With less than nine months to its sukuk maturity, Serba Dinamik’s ability to get external sources of capital hinges on a resolution of the special independent review, a timely completion of its statutory audit, and a restoration of market confidence in the company,” S&P pointed in a statement yesterday (Aug 19).

The ratings agency said while the company has not revised its targeted fiscal 2020 filing, any further delays would mean that the company would be hard pressed to meet its articulated deadline.

It sees this as a “key stepping stone” in dispelling uncertainty and restoring confidence among capital providers.

At the close of yesterday’s trading, Serba Dinamik was down 0.5 sen or 1.19% to 41.5 sen with 24.6 million shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM1.55 bil. – Aug 20, 2021

The Selangor government doesn’t rule out the possibility of the state moving to phase to of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) by as early as some time next month, according to Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

In an online press conference today, he said that around 98% of the population in Selangor has been given at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and the number of critical cases have decreased significantly.

These vaccines he said, will be given out for free.

He also said that the state has stockpiled 500,000 more vaccines which will be loaned to the National Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) to give out third doses which will be implemented either early or mid 2022.

However, the Selangor MB said that the decision is not final on the third jab and its up to the Health Ministry on when to implement it, based on discussions with Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Amirudin said these vaccines will also be distributed to other states which currently need it and added that companies can give to their workers. However, the companies must then replace the vaccines they used.

PETALING JAYA: Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd is optimistic of becoming a major player in the international renewable energy (RE) sector by leveraging its Scotland-based subsidiary Wellahead Engineering Ltd, which was acquired last year.

In a statement yesterday, the integrated oil and gas (O&G) service provider said it planned to expand and make its mark in this business segment.


This is despite the volatile economic conditions and external challenges.

Serba Dinamik group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah said there were huge business opportunities in the RE sector, especially with windmill farms.

“Wellahead has been tasked to establish links and identify opportunities for the Serba Group in this segment and act as a facilitator to penetrate the channels into this potentially lucrative sector.


“Plans have been initiated to make this possible,” he said.


Wellahead’s home base in Dyce, Aberdeen, is a major hub for major O&G multinationals and recently emerged as a centre for major players in the offshore windmill farm industry.

Irregardless who the next PM is…. as long as he or she is legally appointed by DYMM Agong & duly tested in Parliament, this is good & stable approach.

Genting is only waiting for 3 urgent matters now (my personal views only) :

(1) 80% herd immunity in MY by OCTOBER with Interstate travels allowed for All fully vaccinated individuals

(2) When they could safely announce the launch date of their New Theme Park?

(3) Vaccinated Singaporeans allowed to travel to MY without quarantine requirements in MY
