yup, agree with Steve. as long as there is no delay in completing the project and no sharp rise in material and labour cost, they should manage to lock in profit based on their tender book value. but like I said again, the fundamentals are strong, the RCUL issue is very disturbing though... :/

i too studied the fundamental part before entering and i agree with steveooikp findings... just that i overlook the RCUL maturity date factor and possible earning per share dilution from conversion of RCUL to mother share. thanks for the insight Atuk K :)

If there is positive news, the management would've announced it. I've tried searching the net, no articles on it too. So I guess its GAME OVER for Barakah... and for us who are trapped in it. My other counters better work hard to balance out the loss here :p

i got trapped at the peak at the beginning of the year. then i bought again around 1.50 to average out. long way to go to breakeven. i felt tat my money is locked in this counter and not put to good use. should've cut loss few months back then. sigh :(

feels like some big players is preying on this counter, huge buy queue at 1.14 at 10pm+, now huge sell queue at 1.20. :/

its weird when ppl think about Oldtown, they immediately think of the cafe outlets. how about the the retail products? the FMCG arm is the one contributing the larger portion of profits compared to the cafe operation arm.

Franklin could've started accumulating quite some time back, maybe even before the bonus share ex date. They only came into the limelight once they passed the 5% level to be a SUBSTANTIAL shareholder. and that triggered the buying hype and the price rose past RM2.20. now Franklin could've disposed some (could have been they have made a profit or so) and it came into the limelight again and now triggered some panic selling that's why priced drop. this is one of the possibility of the situation nw.

lol. i can't brain this. RM600/month translating into RM20/day and that works out to be RM4/pax everyday for 3 meals, which further average out into RM1.33 per meal. Boss, one C sized egg also easily cost 35 cents. Echo-ing AdCool's comments, I assume that you eat rice + egg + a stalk of kangkung everyday and every meal with that budget. I hope you have spare budget for belacan and cooking oil too for frying the kangkung. :P

Franklin Resources is a substantial shareholder. that's why only their transaction is announced. though i look it positively for a share buy back, do not expect something is cooking immediately as it can be deemed as insider trading (correct me if I'm wrong)

i think Malaysians will tend to stock up non-perishable items during the last minute shopping before Apr 2014. so expect this year end sales to be booming! just my 2 cents...

i agree that consumer spending has decreased lately. i am following both OLDTOWN and PADINI, their revenue has increased. only the profit margin dropped. this could probably due to higher operation costs like rental, utilities and more aggressive marketing campaigns. lets just hope the management will steer back the cost control measures in the next qtr.

there is chance that seller Q could be fake, to put on pressure for panic investors to unload lower than 1.89 while they happily queue at buyer there to accumulate. next earning announcement will capture sales of July-Sept. most likely the last quarter of the calendar wil normally be the strongest. till then, keep calm and enjoy your dividends

nobody is expecting a 50% gain here. im just correcting ur assumption that profit has nothing to do with festive season. only revenue will be affected by festive season buying.

this is quarter report ending Apr-June la... Hari Raya was in end July la... furthermore... if festive season its the revenue that goes up, profit depends a lot of operational cost, outlet renovation/expansion etc. pls get your facts right first before commenting.

luckily managed to maintain EPS in the latest qtr report. many other companies are showing lesser earnings, if not loss. rest assured dear investors of OTB, we will journey to recovery very soon :)
