Dufu is declaring 1:20 treasury shares as dividend. 1:20 = 5%, means it's great as ROI, right? What I would like to know is, what's the effect of the treasury shares being issued as dividend? It's still same as normal shares, right? Means can still be traded?

@Destiny88, Anthony Loke did NOT confirm that ECRL is coming to Seremban, He merely mentioned that the ECRL MAY be re-routed to NEGRI SEMBILAN, not Seremban specifically. Could be Labu, Sendayan, anywhere else. Although high possibility it's going to be Seremban, you cannot insinuate it unless it has been confirmed.

While I too am inclined to believe that ECRL will pass Seremban, I'm appalled that @calvintaneng has included some fake news in his blog:

1) First of all, LGE did NOT say that ECRL will be coming to Seremban. He only said that it MAY come to NEGRI SEMBILAN.

2) Then, Anthony Loke only confirmed what LGE said, which is not to say that he concurred that ECRL is coming to Seremban.

3) Finally, Azmin only called Tun Daim to find out that the negotiations are still ongoing, nothing on Seremban.

So, while your intentions to share your views may have been noble, you need to avoid making up stories which confuse the public, @calvintaneng.

I think you got mixed up with Gamuda. They are the tunnelling giant in Malaysia through MMC-Gamuda. However, you are right about IJM being major shareholder of Scomi. It's been a long wait for them to see their investment bear fruit. So, #IniKaliLah!

As for your question on which to buy (Scomi vs KNM vs Scomies vs Sapura), I don't know much about KNM. But with regards to SAPNRG, they are Petronas' biggest vendor, & with crude oil reaching higher levels, expect more investment from Petronas & involvement from SAPNRG. However, with their debt, don't expect to reap immediate profits. Comparing SCOMI & SCOMIES is easier, IMHO. SCOMIES is less debt laden, & it is is the O&G industry which is on the rise.They are in a niche business which is highly required by the drilling companies, not competing with the likes of SAPNRG, KNM, VELESTO, HIBISCS, etc.So relatively, SCOMIES is a safe bet. But the profit margins of their business is not as big as the O&G construction contractors like SAPNRG,VELESTO, KNM, etc.

SCOMI, however, is an entirely different ball game. They are in the rail industry, one of only 3 proprietary monorail manufacturers in the world (IP belongs to SCOMI)& 100% Malaysian company. While after a lull, the rail industry in Malaysia looks like it is about to pick up, Monorail is not really a popular mode of travel overseas. While it has its advantages, SCOMI's lack of high marketing budget means that there is little publicity on monorails, especially in India. After the recent contracts with Prasarana, there is hope yet. After KL, SCOMI ca start renegotiating in Mumbai & Sao Paulo. Also remember that in the Penang Transport Master Plan, there are two monorail lines, and with SCOMI being a local company, they stand a good chance of clinching the deal. So there is huge potential in SCOMI, but the risk is that previously also, SCOMI had almost RM5 billion worth of potential projects but nothing turned up. Can SCOMI do a better job now under new management? Only time will tell... At this point, I can only recommend to watch closely.For those who are willing to play the long game, go ahead & buy now. It will become more expensive later as bid successes are announced.

Scomi Energy (SCOMIES) & Scomi Group (SCOMI) are two different entities.

SCOMIES is in O&G sector, SCOMI is parent company for SCOMIES & also involved in transportation (rail, buses, special trucks).

SCOMIES got contract in Kuwait, whereas SCOMI contract is with Prasarana. Therefore, SCOMI's contract with Prasarana has no bearing on SCOMIES. However, if SCOMIES makes huge profit, it will trickle up to SCOMI as parent company.

@richardlee, I too believe that that proceeds will not be reflected so soon, so by the time the actual payment is made, it might already be Q2 or Q3 already. No harm in selling some to make some profits now. All down to the individual's risk appetite.

But if you are an investor who has put in high stakes in your company, you are doing it because either you believed in the business model or the management at that time. If later, the management not performing as expected but you know the company got potential, what do you do? I think if it was me, I too would do what Uncle K is doing. The Vietnam project can actually over spill into other areas such as water concessions & property development, both areas where Uncle K's KungFu is strong. Uncle K has good reputation in Vietnam, the confidence to perform & the support of banks, so I would also ask the JAKS management to seriously consider his offer. It's also good for minority shareholders like me.
