Kenanga Research analyst Iqbal Zainal tells The Edge that the job prospects for construction companies remain robust in 2015 but warns that those with exposure to the property sector could face earnings risks. “We prefer construction companies with a strong order book and sustainable margins. The earlier proposed RM 470mil land disposal to Eco World shall be materializing soon or later which will result in an extraordinary gain of RM 170mil for Tropicana, and the entire or bulk of the RM 470mil sale proceeds cann be used to pare down its bank borrowings or to de-gear substantially.....

The Group’s recent decision to buy into Medini
is expected to buttress its income stream in the
coming years. As mentioned earlier, conducting
business in Medini will entail a lot of incentives.
The Group was recently granted “Approved
Developer Status” by Iskandar Regional
Development Authority (IRDA), the regulator in
Iskandar Malaysia - which exempts it from having

Current Year Prospects (copied from its latest quarterly result)
The growth for the year of 2014 is likely an uncertainties in the light of tightier monetary policy, rising inflation, downside risk from the government’s subsidies rationalization programme and impending GST implementation in April 2015. However, the domestic demand in property market will continue its gradual growth especially affordable housing project development though it faced with more stringent controls over consumer spending initiated by financial institutions. Therefore , we remain focused on our key business areas and intent to launch several new projects as follows which contribute significantly to the revenue and profits for the Group :-

EcoWorld registered RM 9 mil profit only for a full financial year ended Sep 2014 but its share price has performed much better than Tropicana's. TCB has simply become a hopeless company........

Mitrajaya also owns 180 acres of freehold land in Banting that is targeted for a mixed development by early 2016. The Banting land is said to have appreciated to RM12 to RM15 psf from RM3.71 psf.
