miss eli

your observation is true yet multi faceted.

long term investors like fund managers are prevention focused, safety first and hence low returns. They also no cut loss, no pivotal moment.

entrepreneurship is the willingness to take risk. You have to take risk to win big...more than that, you have to be willing to project focus and keep buying up as long as the stock keeps going up.

if you want the stockmarket to make a difference, learn from their attributes.,,like KYY attributes/

the end result is not whether the stock go up....the end result is how many shares you got when you are right.

In a beaten down GOOD stock, the key to successful investment is know where the pivotal point is. Be a leader, not a follower. Good advice from stockmanmy and KYY.

I was used to be a very rational person before I came to this site. What I found myself now is the more I try to integrate myself into the people here I will become the dumb ass irrational people who is not designed to change, we are being forced into this world and in a total unfamiliar environment, try to find a way to make a stand here, but then what is happening is you cannot find a peace in this madness, it is like a severely mixed feeling that will make you irrational not only in your stand here, also it will bring it into your daily life. Investment itself is not a science, it is more adequately a fictional existence, when the scientist deal with it, you know there won't be any good thing come out of it. That is why financial studies will never mixed well with science although some will suggest that economy is a science, they are trying so hard to make it work.

I appreciate KYY writing not because he is a super investor, I salute him at his age, he continue to improve and trying to be a better and better person in life. Optimism, confidence and critical thinking are importance part of our life.
But be very careful with words. Over confidence and over optimism can also ruin one person life. Each one of us have a difference risk appetite, KYY may aim for a 40-50 % profit in a short time with a higher risk but not others. Some may has sleepless night even he make a few folds in a week or do the unthinkable when he loss all his money.

Think about it

Fund managers don't cut loss? Really? The fact they have low return is precisely because they have cut loss. Find me a manager than can sustain a 20% loss without cutting.

Take risk to win big. Risk means more diverse outcome, so I suppose you mean betting on a stock with potential 100% upside and 50% downside rather than one with 20% upside and 3% downside. in that case, Im more than happy to take the 20%/3% and bet 100 times with you. Do 100 stimulation on both (with equal probability on both upside and downside), $1 will still get you $1 for 100%/50%. While my $1 bet on the latter will turn into $1604-1984. Good luck. I know you will come up with your cut loss/pivot strategy, and turn 100%/50% into 100%/5% like a magic, really? If that is what you like to believe. Business sense indeed.

Oh yes big difference

Do say dynamic investing

Don't say dynamic punting

Big difference

Say dynamic punting home finance minister signs cheque for only RM 5,000

Say dynamic investing home finance minister sign cheque for RM 500,000

BIG difference

if any of you insist on prevention focus, please consider Fixed Deposits and unit trusts.

if you desire to seek major improvements, please consider needed changes.

people feel naked and inadequate without CFA or without specialised FA and TA training.

KYY and stockmanmy assures them, you don't have to have feel naked or inadequate. He need a changed mind set.

while FA is rice,
needed for survival
too much FA can make you fat and lazy

TA like vitamins
you need some but too much , it becomes poison in your body.

You need talent, gifted, and practise and / a good mentor and practise.

some take it as accountant challenge with 20 ratios.

but it is a human and personality challenge., a behaviour problem

>>>As I said before, 3 persons can buy the same share at the same time and yet each of them will have different result. One is a speculator, another is a short term investor and the last is a successfully long term investor. The first 2 persons will not make much money but the last one should be more successful.<<<

(Poor) Timing, (poor) planning and (lack of) common sense.

Another set of variables that can influence the outcome of investing.

Each is right based on their own reasoning and perspective (recency bias).
