VM Wong ,the per capita income of HK is US 50k while for Singapore it is 64k in 2018. As for Malaysia it is 11k. Shenzen with a population of 20 million is about 30k. Despite HK per capital of about 4.5x of Malaysia. I dont envy th because the house price is 10x of malaysia.If the Hongkees were to enjoy a condo of just 1000sq ft, they have to pay about 5 million HK dollars.Their whole life salary will be.spent on just housing alone.

VM Wong is right that West is still dominate technology, bypass China in many areas. But, why China Beijing can't simply grant independence to Taiwan, HKG??? Look at what happen to Brexit as the best example. Scotland, Ireland will ask independence after Brexit for sure. UK is in the process of break out in the name of democracy. China can't simply open the flood gate with many semi-autonomus states like Xinjiang, Tibet. ask for same treatment.
