Although the Sinovac vaccines is reported to have 50 % efficacy, it prevent death and serious complications if the 50 % do get infected. This is based on Results from Brazil and Chile. The other vaccinated 50% when infected will get no symtoms ,mild symptoms or moderate symptoms . Those with.mild symptoms like just a fever will recover within a few days . Moderate symtoms like cough and body ache might take longer. However these infected can spread to others. Sinovac vaccines do help in preventing 50 % of those vaccinated from getting infected and the other 50 % if do get infected, you do not need to go to hosiptal . You will recover.

agree and aware of the above pjseow..
concern is will economy and social activity fully recover and be like pre-pandemic level when these 50% are still getting infected (though not severe at all)?
even at 10% level....there is a huge risk of delay in social recovery
to avoid these, i see govn must procure pfizer for the whole nation while they continue with other vaccine vaccination based on availability..
my objective is to have full pre-pandemic recovery as early as possible
Among the vaccinated population that has had two doses, 57 per cent were given Sinopharm, while 43 per cent were given AstraZeneca. Some 37 per cent of new active cases are people who are fully vaccinated, according to the health ministry, which did not say how many people among them had the Sinopharm shot....
Probability, I think it is not that Malaysia do not want to buy from Pfizer. The Pfizer vaccines are under allocation . US prioritize its own country first followed by by its allies EU and then others. The leadtimes could be 6 months to a year or even longer . China can produce larger qty. If Malaysia can get China vaccines and get 60 % of our population vaccinated, it will help a lot .Hospitals will be eased . Those infected with minor symptons can be healed at home . Death will be minimised. I dont mind gettimg sinovac . Having covid antibodies in our body is better than none. More shops can be opened sooner.US allies India , Korea, Taiwan had been shouting but US still cannot provide firm commitments on delivery of Pfizer vaccines to them.
Why PFIZER ? No Supply Released by the US to the World Whilst US HOARD millions of Doses ( Just I Case US needs it ) . So we WAIT till more Deaths and Infection hits Malaysia???? Use what ever is available. Those who Insist can Wait till Pfizer becomes AVAILABLE. Mean while " SINOVAC is my Protection"
read all the arguments first...dont msg without head or tail info lor..

U.S. says condemns political use of vaccines after China-Taiwan tussle
By Michael Martina
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The United States stands with Honduras and condemns the "cynical use" of COVID-19 vaccines for political purposes, the State Department said, after Taiwan blasted China for seeking to use vaccines to make diplomatic inroads with one of Taipei's allies.
Honduras, among a small number of Latin American countries to maintain diplomatic ties with Taiwan, has said it was considering opening an office in China in a bid to acquire much needed COVID-19 shots, prompting Taipei to criticize Beijing for pushing a vaccine-for-recognition deal.
Several Latin American nations are receiving Chinese vaccines, but countries such as Honduras and Guatemala that have built ties with democratic Taiwan - which Beijing considers a breakaway province - are not.
"We condemn the cynical use of potentially life-saving medical assistance to advance the narrow political agendas of certain donors," a State Department spokesman told Reuters without mentioning China when asked about the situation involving Honduras.
"Taiwan's relationships with countries in the region, including Honduras, reinforce the hemisphere's democratic values and support sustainable development," the spokesman said, adding that the United States "stands with Honduras as it confronts these challenging times."
China's foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying responded at a daily news conference in Beijing on Friday, accusing the United States of double standards and of hoarding vaccines while not assisting other countries.
Taiwan has complained that China is applying similar pressure to Paraguay, one of just 15 countries that formally recognize the self-governed island over Beijing.
China, Russia, and the United States have sought to deepen ties around the world and further their countries' geopolitical clout through so-called "vaccine diplomacy".
The Chinese government, which has been exporting millions of doses of COVID-19 vaccines mainly to developing countries, has repeatedly denied that it uses them to gain diplomatic advantage.
Beijing has been gradually whittling away at Taiwan's diplomatic allies, which has alarmed Washington, nervous about an increased Chinese presence in Latin America and the Pacific where those allies are concentrated.
The United States earlier this month backed calls from emerging countries led by India and South Africa to temporarily lift patent protection for COVID-19 vaccines in the race to distribute more doses globally.
(Reporting by Michael Martina; Additional reporting by David Kirton in Beijing;
Why so many stupich china fan here...since when china help Malaysia...china vaccine will not ease the pandemic, as usual it is cheap and less effective, it won't stop transmission since only 50% effectiveness. If we only depend on china vaccine even with 100% vaccinated, 50% will still get infected. China vaccine is used while waiting for western vaccine. For those who got china vaccine, it will strongly recommend to take phizer or other when it is available.
Neighbour Philippines said on Friday it was aiming to secure 40 million doses of the Pfizer/Biotech vaccine, in what could be its first supply agreement

all countries waking up.....by the time Malaysia open eyes, all sold out le...
The study found that real-life use of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines provided 94% protection for the front-line workers immunized at the beginning of the vaccine rollout. A single dose provided 82% protection, the CDC-led team reported in the agency's weekly report, the MMWR.
It was the findings from the new study, on top of earlier studies, that pushed CDC to decide to loosen its advice on who needs to wear a mask and when, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said.
"This report provided the most compelling information to date that COVID-19 vaccines were performing as expected in the real world," Walensky said in a statement Friday.
"COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing COVID-19 disease, especially severe illness and death," CDC says on its new web page describing guidance for the fully vaccinated.
"COVID-19 vaccines reduce the risk of people spreading COVID-19."
About 63% of them were vaccinated. Only about 11% had asymptomatic infections, the research team found at the time. Those who got both doses of either Pfizer/BioNtech's or Moderna's vaccine were 90% less likely to get a positive test and those who got only a single dose had 80% protection.
80% protection from just a single dose .....................................
so thinking already vaccinated can go to genting or cruise.....better not until got cure.if addicted ask govt to give genting license to operate online casino....hehe
its very clear, as proven by Israel and being proven by U.S, malaysia should go all out vaccination like how Israel did in just 2 months (10million).... get the best vaccine and give maximum priority to speed and efficacy....
every day delay..the country loosing its edge against other south east asian country
ahbah: "Which vaccine got no blood clot, hearth, death effect ? Thanks."
You asked the wrong question.
In anything, we should aim for the highest percentage of success anyway we could. For example, you play basketball. If you shoot from end to end, there is still a chance you will score. But you still try to get to as close to the basket as possible then shoot, holding everything else constant.
The challenge about china vaccines is not just protection. On the surface, 1. about 3% efficacy after first jab. 2. after 2nd jab, about 20%. 3. after 2 months of 2nd jab, maybe 50%.
This doesn't match with the fact that, for example Turkey, after vaccination begins, cases risen 10 times from 6,000 to 60k then back to 10k. Still more cases compare to before the vaccination begins.
The only exception (took China vaccines) seems to be UAE, where cases gradually coming down since vaccination.
A lot of people, including presidents from various countries, claimed they got covid-19 after 1st jab.
Luckily for malaysia, all reporters took china vaccines (and they know how it felt). That's going to decide our future.
Now the govn is coming to their senses and stopping Sinovac and going for high efficacy Pfizer (kinda late realization actually, but better than not waiting for full vaccination and seeing hopeless results)
SINOVAC is only 51% effective, even with high vaccination rate, vaccinated will keep transmitting to the vulnerables and we dont want that...it will cause economy opening delayed too long
The WHO said studies showed the Sinovac vaccine "prevented symptomatic disease in 51% of those vaccinated and prevented severe Covid-19 and hospitalization in 100% of the studied population" for adults aged 18 and older, when it approved the jab in June.
The key point very important for sinovac here are;
1. It is readily available
2. those vaccinated and prevented severe Covid-19 and hospitalization in 100% of the studied population" for adults aged 18 and older, when it approved the jab in June.

Yeah, PN quietly dropping out Sinovac! I think the existing supplies should be given to migrant workers which is the right way to go! As for rakyat, Khairy made the right move to order more than enough Pfizer doses for every single malaysians! My suggestion, made it compulsory for all malaysians to get jab! No worries, i think Malaysia will be out of this pandemic very soon!
The proof is very clear! Thailand and Indonesia opted for Sinovac for their medical staff! End up losing thousands of them due to Covid! As for Malaysia, very few require hospitalized! Mind you, medical staff are expose to Covid on daily basis!
Thailand majority use sinovac compare to msia use Pfizer loh, how come msia has much more more cases than thailand....when it has less than 50% population of thailand leh ??
That means Sinovac more effective than Pfizer loh!
