Forced foreign workers won’t easy to solve since the agents of the workers are out of our government control. It keeps haunting the industries making decent profits. What to do? Ditch all western customers?
solutions r to have full cooperation n understanding among d govt, employers n unions! dey hv to support each other n reprimand d culprits n wrongdoings! regulations governing d recruitments n approving of quotas to various industries must b handled properly n professionally!
Put in a realistic actions. How? Build 3 stars apartments for them? Make sure the foreign workers don’t borrow huge money from the agent or signing unfavorable agreement before coming to Malaysia?
irresponsible foreign workers must b terminated n sent back to their country! d unions n govt must not played to d wits n fancies of these foreign workers! dey must hv done something wrong to b reprimanded!
Out of million of workers , 100% sure some foreign workers would make a complain to Andy Hall. By the time they look into the allegations, share price of listed companies employing foreign (forced) labor workers sure diarrhea one.
normally, d rules n regulations r spelt in d contract agreement whether it's for individual or employed thru' agents such as living conditions eg. basic housing provided, working conditions eg. overtime to meet production, etc...! if they disagreed dey don't signed! dey cannot demands what is not spelt in d agreement upon taking up d employment! d unions n govt should not interfered n sided d workers for wrongdoings!
Normally, foreign workers comes to work with debt bondages. How to monitor?
Definition of forced Labour from ILO
The forced labour definition encompasses: “traditional practices of forced labour, such as vestiges of slavery or slave-like practices, and various forms of debt bondage, as well as new forms of forced labour that have emerged in recent decades, such as human trafficking.”1 also called “modern-slavery” to shed light on working and living conditions contrary to human dignity.
The only way is to give migrant workers citizenship of Malaysia and treat them like Bumiputra status so that no more complaints by migrant workers to Andy Hall and ILO for forced labour allegations issues..
Once the foreign workers get the citizenship, they demand the treatment similar with the original local people. This is what had happened to the migration from Indonesia. Get another million foreign workers again?
If our Malaysian government thinking that migrant workers complaining abuse and forced labour allegations are true, then we Malaysians are cruel and heartless people who likes to abuse migrant workers now and then..
Primary role of government is to care for it's OWN CITIZENS not foreign workers. The government must ensure locals are not unemployed and receive better remuneration and all benefits taken care.
If the government acts as a foreign workers agency then definitely these emboldens crooks to masquerade as agents. There will be no control on influx of foreign workers and certainly locals unemployment will sky rocket. This will attribute to social problems like increased crime, corruption, suppressed salary hence contribute to inflation.
Employers are blood suckers. Luckily I am not the HOME MINISTER, otherwise the business of foreign workers will be burnt to ashes. Any employers insisting on foreign workers will be told to SHUTDOWN and shift their business elsewhere.
It does not matter if the industries DIE. BETTER the EMPLOYERS DIE instead of the RAKYAT. FOREIGN WORKERS ARE FOREIGNERS and have no business in enjoying CITIZENS RIGHTS.
FOR too long these employers are enjoying vulgar profit.
I am shocked to read articles about forced labour in M'sia in this modern world! How can they be forced? Are you certain it's not politically motivated ?The powerful are using media as well as gullible people to fullfill their agenda just like America using Joshua to lead in the demonstrations against the HK government!
People like you prefer robots than employees with needs. In simple words, slave is what employers in Malaysia, wants. They don't care about their needs. That is why salaries remain the same even after working for DECADES.
ESG going to ruin a lot of industries in Malaysia. It is a scam by the WEST to force you out of business and it's a strategy to improve the relative competitiveness in their home countries.
dickyme, caring about employee needs and the word force labour is completely different meaning.force means doing against your will! if you think your employer is exploiting you, have guts to leave for another one who does!Complaining but still want to work is entirely different thing!
Do you really believe America's statement that using HUawei's 5G technology is a way China is spying on you?Getting her allies to abstain using 5G is not a political agenda in nature?Pls read between the lines and don't trust what the media writes nowadays! The evils in them is so good that you could thank them despite stabbing you at the back!
Foreign workers have no choice once they are in a foreign land. They cannot return due to passports confiscated by employers or agents and also financially indebted back home.
Forced labour is forcing them to work 12 hours shift and mandating them to continue working to cover for insufficient workforce. Deducting their salary for small matters is akin to robbing. Stuffing 20 to 30 people in a house and calling it a hostel is an insult to humanity.
If you want me to list the atrocities, the list would be an encylopedia.
Forced labour encompasses all the above mentioned.
Why not employ Malaysians and follow the law?
You want to give the age old bull sheet that Malaysians are lazy and refuse to work? Why the salary is stagnant?
If I am the Prime Minister I will BAN foreign workers and SHUTDOWN companies depending on them.
Malaysia addiction to foreign has been mentioned again and again for many years already and yet we continue to have more and more foreign laborers despite the fact that many Malaysians are jobless. Many employees prefer to employ foreign workers as these workers can be easier to control apart from being "cheap". In addition there exist an industry to supply labour to countries like Malaysia. There are many recruiting agents in both in Malaysia and in the foreign labour countries that greatly benefit from import and export of labour. Even the medical sector that provide health screenings and testings equally benefit from this industry. And of course some politicians and even civil servants had some thing to gains in the biz of foreign labour. A lot of people apart from employers themselves got some thing to gain from this biz of foreign labour. No wonder Malaysia continue to prefer foreign labour. Yet many of our own people are working in foreign countries like Singapore, Australia etc.
Don't use cheap labour to describe migrant workers, even they are poor but they respect human rights, not like Malaysian people, arrogant, heartless and forced labour, otherwise they will complain to their God father Andy Hall and protector ILO and we Malaysia will be in trouble again, our EMS industries will lose the big contract and our locals will becomes jobless, you see these ungrateful poor migrant workers are very powerful people, don't never underestimate their influence at international level, even our government cannot stop them from talking bad about our citizens..
Labour intensive technology companies are encouraged to move out of Malaysia and maintain their listing status in Bursa. Malaysian investors are number 1 darling of the technology companies. The share price can fetch PER top in the world.
Availability of cheap labour will not encourage the industries to be more efficient and investing more in technology. Salary for labour has not kept up with the cost of living and the gap between the workers at the bottom are huge and the gap continue to increase. These issues if not recognized and addressed urgently will have social, economic and political consequences, sooner or later.
Migrant workers God father Andy Hall and ILO already jointed hands to sabotage our Malaysian reputation so the only way is to provide all migrant workers with good housing,, good salary with no OT, good working environment plus yearly bonuses otherwise we will face the punishment from USA, UK or so called big power nations..
On the other hand, these workers are not grateful that they get employment in Malaysia and no body were forcing them to come here to work here. Most of the exploitations were actually done by their own fellow country men during recruitment that involve among other thing lending money at usurious rates to these workers. In their own countries these so called forced labour can't get jobs and the working conditions are far worst than here. I must state that I am against any forms exploitation, and labour must be treated with respect and fairly paid. What is surprising however, many well known international clothing brands for example, are using very cheap labour working in horrible and unsafe factories in for example Bangladesh and elsewhere too, but we don't often hear from these importer countries banning these imports?
Do u know how unproductive a local worker is leh ??
Study have shown 1 foreign worker is 3x more productive than the local mah!
Thus some companies rather spend more to take care of the foreign workers in order to ensure its sustainability of business loh!

What is grateful definition to the foreign workers? Foreign workers would say we use our sweat and blood to help you manufacturers doing the dongkey jobs that the local people don’t like to do so…the manufacturers making good profits should be grateful to us and help us to solve our debt bondage in the home country.
No forced labor issue when a company makes good profit and at the same time their foreign employees is enjoying in 3 stars apartment, pay same with the local, comfortable working conditions , no passport withholding by the employers and no debt bondages at their home country….in overall, it’s equivalent to the local employees treatment standard la.
Might as well stay put & do the full manufacturing at high cost countries like Germany, switzerland, Usa, Japan and Australia mah! Since little labor is use mah!
They chose msia bcos cannot fully automate & cost of labor cheaper and have access to foreign labor mah!
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....

Stop employing foreign workers and hire locals!
It is a quick remedy.
If any employers or companies insist on foreign workers, let them shutdown and setup their business in foreign workers country.
