GREEN PACKET BHD: (GRPB MK, CP: MYR0.06, Not Rated) Disposing loss making subsidiary, will this help? Maybank IBG Retail Research
Green Packet announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Xendity Pte Ltd is disposing its entire interest in Xendity S/B, which is involved in research and development of software, for a cash consideration of MYR17.5m. The proposed disposal is expected to be completed in 2Q23.
Pursuant to the disposal, Green Packet is expected to book in an estimated gain on disposal of MYR3.6m. According to management, the proceeds from the proposed disposal will be utilised for the group’s existing core business and to fund for any future business expansions.
This move should be well received by investors as it would help to improve the group’s bottom line and provide immediate cash flow. Xendity reported LAT of MYR1.2m in 11M22. Albeit small in comparison to Green Packet’s LAT of MYR155m in FY22, this is a step toward returning to profitability.
Green Packet is principally involved in fintech and communication. Moving forward, prospects appear to be challenging on the back of the high operating costs environment, on top of the highly competitive landscape in the industry. Hence, investors with low risk appetite should stay on the sideline.
Valuation wise, PB is a more appropriate methodology given its earnings track record. At current price, the stock is trading at a PB of 1.3x, lower than its 3-year historical average PB. Green Packet has a healthy balance sheet. Its net cash stood at MYR28.5m at end-Sep 2022.
Notable changes in shareholding at companies listed on Bursa Malaysia between Oct 25 and 28 included those at Green Packet Bhd, which saw the emergence of substantial shareholder Datuk Seri Lim Kok Han after he acquired 358.18 million shares, or 18.33% equity interest, through a private placement. The shares were registered under Hong Seng Capital Sdn Bhd.
The placement made Lim Green Packet’s largest shareholder. The second largest shareholder is Wui Leong Seng, who has a 6.36% stake.
For the quarter ended June 30, 2022, Green Packet managed to narrow its net loss to RM10.43 million from RM49.24 million a year ago. This came on the back of a 50% jump in revenue to RM187.2 million from RM124.85 million.
Green Packet: Sells remaining shares in G3 Global. Green Packet has disposed of its remaining shares in G3 Global Bhd for RM5.78m. Green Packet sold the remaining amount of 115.25m G3 Global shares, representing a 3.97% stake in the open market via direct business transaction on Aug 10. (The Edge)
