2017／2018财政年，是马联工业（MUIIND,3891,主板消费产品服务组）经营史上的分水岭，集团主席拿督邱继炳在掌舵马联工业50年后，最终决定引退，放下首席执行员管理职务。

从2018年1月1日起，集团首席执行员职务交给儿子邱武耀。邱继炳保留集团主席，全力支持新的首席执行员，同时提供所需的指引。

邱继炳认为，在今天的商业大环境，儿子邱武耀具备所需的条件，有能力承担马联工业首席执行员职务。在学术资格方面，他考获剑桥大学法律学位、西雅图太平洋大学商业管理硕士学位。

之前，他在集团累积的经验包括掌管英国Corus酒店、英国Laura Ashley控股及新加坡和大马的Network食品集团。

对马联工业来说，当下的任务是集团顺利完成企业重组计划，一旦完成，集团的财务基础将更为强大，跨步迈入成长的轨道。

马联工业是一家投资控股公司，5大核心业务分别是零售、酒店、产业、食品和金融服务。在已结束财政年，集团脱售英国两家酒店及波德申明阁酒店，明阁是以1450万令吉脱售，集团赚取310万令吉盈利。至于脱售英国的两家酒店——Hunddlesfield的Old Golf House酒店及Halifax的Imperial Crown酒店，售价280万英镑，只赚取10万英镑。

马联工业零售业以英国的Laura Ashley控股和大马的美罗再也为主，前者是伦敦上市公司，售卖著名服装品牌。截至2018年6月30日，Laura Ashley在英国拥有160家商店、法国一家，另外在29个国家和地区，有213家专卖店，集团也通过电子商务平台和邮件订单促销产品。

作为大马其中一家零售业集团——美罗再也，经营7家百货商店、7间家庭家具商店、两家概念商店及8家Laura Ashley专卖店。

在已结束财政年，美罗再也营业额1亿零180万令吉，比前期的1亿1640万令吉低，主要是消费者基本面疲弱，税前亏损2910万令吉，比前期的1970万令吉高。

至于酒店业的经营，在英国的Corus酒店营业额改善1.8%，至2820万英镑，比前期的2770万英镑高，主要是酒店客房和投宿率较高。可是税前盈利从170万英镑，削减至20万英镑，主因是成本上升，例如工资和维修费都增加；Corus Hyde Park酒店和Belsfield酒店的营业额，分别增加7.8%和5.0%。

集团在大马的两家酒店——吉隆坡Corus酒店及波德申Corus Paradise Resort酒店，营业额皆下跌。其中吉隆坡的Corus酒店，虽然维持酒店客房收费和投宿率，可是关闭两个月进行大堂装修，营业额从前期的2910万令吉减少1%，至2880万令吉，税前盈利从740万令吉，削减至550万令吉。

波德申Corus Paradise Resort酒店营业额削减2.1%，至920万令吉，前期为940万令吉，加上非营运开销升高，税前亏损130万令吉。

集团的旗舰产业发展计划，即1990英亩的Bandar Springhill城镇，位于芙蓉波德申高速公路附近，由子公司West Energy负责发展，在已结束财政年，West Energy营业额成长7.2%，从3740万令吉，增至4010万令吉，税前盈利上升40.7%，从910万令吉增至1280万令吉。

展望未来，集团将继续探讨发展良机、调整策略方针，注重有利可图的领域，例如酒店业和产业发展，同时释放可以加强集团财务状况资产的价值。

Attended agm yesterday... suggested Andrew to make announcement on assets disposal to keep market well inform about the group restructuring progress, no matter small or big, instead of just put in AR. He agreed and think they will make it happen.

"Yes, e-commerce is vital for our business because if we don't do it now we will be behind the curve. We cannot ignore it, we must do it, but we want to do it properly. Metrojaya currently has an e-commerce presence through third party websites [such as Lazada], but we can't just rely on that, we need our own platform as well, as well as social media and digital marketing, it's a whole ecosystem.
