My opinion is, only 2% of water is drinkable and it has dropped to 1% now. Even scientists r trying to find a planet with existence of water. What i see water crisis will be very critical in near future. I can live without a car a gucci bag a vacation, but water? Industrial need it as well as mankind. So the future is bright for water business.

Selangor water tenders to start in December By Chen Shaua Fui / theedgemarkets.com | November 9, 2015 : 2:28 PM MYT Translated by Google Translator: Translated by Google Translator: Share on facebookShare on twitterKUALA LUMPUR (Nov 9): Tenders for the Semenyih 2 and Labohan Dagang water treatment plants will begin in December 2015 and March 2016 respectively, Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali said.
Azmin said both plants, involving some RM800 million in collective investments, would have a combined capacity of 500 million litres per day. He said the plants aim to supply water in Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur between 2017 and 2019.
"The tender document for Semenyih 2 has been completed and the tender will begin in early December. The project is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2016.
"Meanwhile, for Labohan Dagang water treatment plant, we expect the tender to be called the latest by March 2016, and the project is expected to commence in mid-2016," Azmin said at a press conference in conjunction with his visit to Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd here today.
He said the projects are expected to be completed within 18 to 24 months.
He said Semenyih 2 and Labohan Dagang water treatment plants were initiated after the federal government informed Selangor that the Langat 2 water treatment plant, slated to be completed in 2017, would be delayed to 2019.
Azmin said the federal government notified Selangor about the delay two months ago.
On the reason for the Langat 2 delay, Azmin said: "You need to ask Putrajaya. We have given all the development orders required by them three months ago."
As at 22 Oct 15, TP by CIMB is RM0.95. On the same day, it was closed at 0.66.
Water and fibre optics for growth
■ Earnings turnaround story remains intact for FY16.Huge opportunities in new water and wastewater contracts domestically.Potential beneficiary of the 11MP too. ■ VBT has secured recurring revenue streams from two telcos. Scope ofearnings expansionis huge, driven by multiple productsand services, and larger telcos. ■ We cut our EPS fortiming issues, butits 3-year EPS CAGR of 67% is still attractive. Our lower target price remains pegged to a 20% RNAV discount.
KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Equities Research sees a high possibility that water contracts could be revived.
It said on Thursday based on recent data points, the momentum of government and private sector-funded water projects should play catch-up with non-water contracts.
“The government’s large budget substantiates this, with RM12bn in total under 11 Malaysia Plan (over five years from 2016), based on our compilation. We believe the bulk of the budget allocation excludes pipe replacement given the focus on treatment plants, implying that eventual spending could be higher,” it said.
CIMB Research said one of the key catalysts for a comeback in water projects is Budget 2016. One-quarter of the total RM2.2bil would be to build and upgrade new water treatment plants (WTPs) nationwide.
This is slightly higher than the average allocation per annum in the past seven years, which is positive for the backlog of water capex in Klang Valley and, more importantly, in Selangor. This also means that there could be several tenders for WTP upgrades in other states. The other catalyst is Selangor's industry consolidation.
“We expect over RM2bil worth of water-type contracts to be awarded largely in 2016. This does not include potential jobs from the private sector side. Overall, this is good news for pure water infra contractors, where the average order book based on our checks is currently running at below RM1bil.
“Salcon, which is the only pure water infra contractor under our coverage, could emerge with a bigger share of wins. Its tender book (jobs in tender) stands at RM1bil to RM2bil,” it said.
CIMB Research said after the exit of Puncak Niaga from the water business in Selangor, Salcon now looks more attractive given its position among the contractors that could benefit from new tenders post the water consolidation in the state.
The critical water reserve margin of below 5% in the state implies that new alternative water supply jobs will be expedited before the implementation of Langat 2 WTP phase 2 (RM800mil to RM1bil in value). Salcon is also in the running for this job given its advantage in phase 1.
“Smaller-cap integrated water contractors offer good order book growth prospects. Within our coverage, Salcon provides the only exposure as its larger peers are focused on other segments. We maintain our Overweight call on the construction sector. Gamuda remains our top big-cap pick while Muhibbah Engineering is our preferred small/mid-cap stock,” it said.
was happy to see the uptrend moving, not to dampen the mood here, but i feel this seems a kind of seasonal IR strategy for CIMB to issue the research report, refer back to history, share px normally dropped back after climbed, hope i am wrong this time.....
1009, this stock is dead at 0.65. I sold off all 20 lots 0.62 and shifted to 50 lots bornoil and 10 lots arank, my total today from these two is 1350 but if keep still salcon would be only 650.....so suck....
Prospects Following the Government announcement of Eleventh Malaysia Plan (11MP) with the allocation of RM12 billion for the water and waste water sector, the Group is optimistic to participate in some of these projects.
