Setia's positive performance was partially offset by a higher share of joint venture (JV) losses, which amounted to RM121.8mn in 1H24 compared to RM46.6mn in 1H23. The increased losses were primarily due to issues with the Battersea Power Station JV, including the impact of MFRS 17 (Insurance Contracts), and inventory and bad debt write-downs.

This seem to be dragging the price down.

Obviously, foreign funds are taking profits and exiting today. Dow Nasdaq are at historic high with tech bubbles anytime would explode, this no one would deny in Wall Street.
Stocks have become RISKY assets.

Malaysian consortium, comprising S P Setia Bhd, Sime Darby Property Bhd and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), together with the support of other private and public sector stakeholders were the key drivers in helping the iconic power station roar back to life.

It wasn’t an easy task, of course. Battersea Power Station was purchased by the current shareholders in 2012. A complex transaction, it took 18 months and involved a team of hundreds, including advisers, financiers and solicitors, before the deal was sealed.

Sold all this morning at RM1.43. Probably price going down because too expensive at this price. Just bought MRCB and Ekovest as price is relatively cheap compared to SP Setia

excerpt of report....
"-the company’s joint venture with Battersea Power Station recorded a staggering loss of RM101 million in 2Q24
- further exacerbated by an income guarantee agreement for an office tower within the development.
- The Battersea project, which was supposed to be a landmark development, has become a financial burden due to low occupancy rates and high-interest rates in the UK.
- S P Setia’s management acknowledged that the project might continue to post losses in the coming quarters, compounding investor concerns."

Mention all this stock too risky etc, why SPSETIA, should the whole KLCI in red then.....really no idea why......

Posted by lionel messi > 2024-08-15 14:48 | Report Abuse

This is not the simple "sell on news" type of movement. This is considered very disorderly especially after announcing good result. Bursa and SC need to investigate or issue an UMA query.
