Prospects Revenue of the Group decreased from RM19.387 million to RM17.792 million amounting to RM1.595 million or 8.23% for the current financial quarter as compared to immediate preceding financial quarter mainly due to decrease of revenue contributed from Civil Engineering and Construction Services. The Group reported a net loss before tax of RM4.007 million for the current financial quarter as compared to a net loss before tax of RM18.447 million in the immediate preceding quarter mainly due to impairment loss of financial and contract assets and fair value loss on quoted investments in the preceeding quarter. The year 2022 will no doubt bring a fair share of challenges and opportunities to the Group. With the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak worldwide, like other companies in the same industry, the immediate prospects for the Group are not encouraging in the event that the macro economic and political climate do not improve drastically. In addition, on 2 April 2021, the Group had introduced the first maiden development project to public during the Ground-breaking Ceremony which was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob, Senior Minister (Security Cluster). The Board believe that with the continuous growth in the Energy Utilities Services and Power Generation segment will contribute positively to the financial performance of the Group. The Renewable Energy, i.e. energy utilities services and power generation business, with the long term stable income stream derived from the energy utilities services continue to contribute positively to long term revenue and profits of the Group. On top of the above, the Group will kick start its development project and expand into River Sand Extraction cum Trading segment in the near future. The Group recorded a gross profit before tax of RM1.748 million as compared to a gross profit before tax of RM2.096 million in the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. This is a project by Pasukhas Development Sdn. Bhd. (“PDSB”) (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company) through Joint Venture Agreement (“JVA”) with Yayasan on 9 June 2017. Pursuant to the JVA, PDSB will undertake Yayasan Project as the Yayasan Project owner. PDSB shall be responsible for undertaking and implementing the entire development project on a total package basis from initial conceptual studies through the detail design and construction phase to the completion thereof. Further information on the roles and responsibility of PDSB are set out in the circular to Shareholders dated 20 July 2018.

This paper investigates the impact of the Minority Shareholder Watchdog Group (MSWG) activism on the performance of targeted firms in Malaysia. We find that MSWG-targeted firms earn statistically significantly higher stock returns than non-targeted firms in the long run. The results of various hypothesis tests involving firm performance measures show that MSWG-targeted firms experience significant increase in earnings relative to non-targeted firms in the first and second years after MSWG involvement. Our results imply that although the MSWG's approach to activism might not be comparable to the initiatives of independent activists in developed financial markets, this type of activism does make a difference by providing minority shareholders and institutional investors with resourceful solutions to reduce information asymmetries that have significant economic consequences.

It is refreshing that PNB has decided to voice its concerns in public when it comes to voting against a resolution.
Such an approach must definitely be good for the development of corporate governance in the capital market and for shareholder activism and transparency.
It is hoped that more institutional investors will follow suit. They have the votes to dish out effective market discipline.

Nevertheless, the Group remains reasonably optimistic as it will continue to leverage on its clients base, internal strength and marketing efforts to secure new contracts from both local and overseas clients. With its solid foundation, and keen eye for integrating suitable acquisition and mergers into its expansion, the Group is expected to maintain sustainable growth and improved profitability for the foreseeable financial years.

Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq score best day in nearly a week despite Microsoft warning on dollar stocks.
Last Updated: June 2, 2022 at 4:31 p.m. ET
Stocks ended near session highs Thursday, shrugging off earlier weakness, after Microsoft Corp. cut its fourth-quarter guidance ahead of the opening bell, citing the toll taken by a surging U.S. dollar.
Investors also focused on comments from several Federal Reserve officials and labor-market data ahead of Friday’s jobs report.
mean a faster pace of rate hikes in September.
Vice Chairman Lael Brainard also said Thursday she didn’t think the central bank should pause its planned series of interest-rate hikes in September, in an interview on CNBC.
Expectations that the Fed will increase interest rates by a half percentage point in June and July, but also in September, had been weighing on stocks and bonds and sending Treasury yields higher.
Despite more hawkish tones Thursday from several Fed officials, the yield on the 10-year Treasury note BX:TMUBMUSD10Y slipped 1.6 basis points to 2.91%.
Oil prices turned higher after OPEC+ agreed to boost output by 648,000 barrels a day in July and August, with U.S. crude CL up 1.4% to settle at $116.87 a barrel.
The agreement comes as Russian oil production is expected to fall sharply in response to sanctions targeting the country’s energy exports, and it exceeds the prior 432,000 barrel-a-day monthly increases the group has been approving since last year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In economic data, private-sector payrolls rose by 128,000 in May, according to the ADP National Employment Report released Thursday. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had forecast a gain of 299,000 private-sector jobs.
Separately, data showed first-time jobless claims fell 11,000 to 200,000 in the week ended May 28, while first-quarter labor productivity was revised to negative-7.3% from an initial negative-7.5%, and first-quarter unit-labor costs were raised to 12.6% from a previous estimate of 11.6%.
Jobs-related data comes a day ahead of May nonfarm payrolls numbers from the Labor Department, though economists note that the ADP data has been a poor guide to the official figures on a month-to-month basis.
“The ADP report points to a dramatic slowdown in private-payroll employment gains in May to 128,000 but, given the survey’s surprisingly poor real-time correlation with the official nonfarm payroll data, we continue to forecast that the latter will show a 300,000 when the report is released tomorrow,” wrote economists at Capital Economics, in a note.

NEW YORKL Global equity markets rose while U.S. yields were lower on Thursday after lower-than-expected private payrolls data stirred hopes that the American economy was likely cooling and the Federal Reserve might be persuaded to modify its aggressive stance on interest rates and inflation.
The ADP National Employment Report on Thursday showed that private payrolls rose by 128,000 jobs in May, which was much lower than the consensus estimate of 300,000 jobs and suggested that demand for labor was starting to slow.
If the private payrolls data is reaffirmed by the Labor Department's more comprehensive jobs report on Friday, then the Fed would be unlikely to continue its pace of rate hikes, said Sandy Villere, portfolio manager at Villere & Co in New Orleans.
"Essentially, bad news is good news and good news is bad news. That means the economy is maybe cooling a little bit and the Fed can maybe calm down on their hikes because that is essentially controlling everything right now," Villere said.
The MSCI world equity index which tracks shares in 50 countries, was up 1.42%. The pan-European STOXX 600 index gained 0.57%.
U.S. Treasury yields pulled back from recent highs ahead of the closely watched employment report and what it could indicate about the possible trajectory of interest rates.
Two Fed officials, Vice Chair Lael Brainard and Cleveland Fed President Loretta Mester, reiterated on Thursday that the U.S. central bank would likely continue raising rates at a fast pace unless it sees a moderation in inflation.

KUALA LUMPUR (June 4): Bursa Malaysia is expected to move higher next week, supported by returning global investors amid easing Covid-19 restrictions globally, said an analyst.
Inter-Pacific Asset Management Sdn Bhd executive director and fund manager Datuk Nazri Khan said some international fund managers are betting that the worst is over.

“We can say that global stocks are making strong gains despite the negative external environment,” he told Bernama.
