Yap, but im sure the government can tighten their allocation. Nway, can also trace from IC ma.. Its juz they dont want to do it. In a country where official religion is Islam, this situation should not be happem.
this is about making money.. bank gives loan.. MITI help bumi.. but still got interest what for how long you hold it.. where got free of charge.. here riba, there riba.. you can blame the system.. anyway, there is no enforcement.. only you put boundaries on ur own..
yap.. thats y im posting this. To make sure people out there know wat is the real situation before they make decision. At least they know before and not later..
D problem is some bongok muslim still wan to aply astro.... All d aplication by muslim shall b disqualified n more shares can be set aside for other races... Then only fare!!!
sorry, the comment by ckinsg doesnt represent all non-muslim as far as i am concerned. MITI is only fulfilling the role of keeping govt checks on quota. Although i believe in free market and that everyone should buy and sell freely instead of quota base, we have to live with reality. govt is just doing their job ensuring bumiputera participation. So i can live with that!
in the stock market, its not muslim or buddhist or any religions. future religion incited jealousy should be stamped out!
this being said, let the matter rest and not resort to brickbats now!
For those who wondering about syariah ke tidak. First you need to understand why it is not syariah. I'm try to look whether any astro subsidiary jual arak, babi atau buat judi. Kalau the only reason is due to entertainment or bank loans, maybe I will apply. Kalau nak ikutkan Bank Islam pun tak Islam compliance tapi syariah compliance. Ada beza between islam compliance and syariah compliance. Look it up yourself, malas nak cite Macam berid says about bank loans. Unless we revamp the financial institution, start using gold or use money that backup by gold. So please share info on astro subsidiries operations activities... Mana lah tau kot kot ada yang buat arak ker..
businesses and trade-related activities in this country is so "inter-twinned". hard to comment on all these.. a case in point, PNB owns Maybank (non shariah compliance). a lot of ASB depositors use the $ received from annual dividends to perform religious abligations..
wat is all this idiot discuss all the nonsence... wasting time to discuss syariah or non syariah... kalu nak aply, aply je.. kalu x nak aply, jngn ungkit ungkit lagi... u org x fedup ke??

Was it Shariah Compliant? Couldn't find under the "List of Shariah-Compliant Securities" endorsed by the "Majlis Penasihat Syariah" of SC. That means, it was a non-shariah counter. Reference: 31 May 2010. http://www.sc.com.my/eng/html/icm/sas/sc_s...iant_100531.pdf 30 Nov 2009. http://www.sc.com.my/eng/html/icm/sas/sc_s...ahcompliant.pdf 29 May 2009. http://www.sc.com.my/eng/html/icm/sas/sc_s...iant_090529.pdf Based on this, I think the re-listing ASTRO most likely to be a non-shariah counter also.
