Members of the US Congress House of Representatives overwhelmingly backed a bill requiring the US government to seek to strip Beijing of developing country status in international organizations and agreements. This idea was supported by 415 out of 435 members of Congress. TASS reports with reference to the C-SPAN television channel, which broadcast the meeting online.“China is abusing its status as a developing country, receiving development aid and loans from international organizations. This gives an unfair advantage. China is second only to the United States in terms of economic size. The United States is considered a developed country and China should be considered the same,” Yang Kim said when discussing the bill. The bill directs the White House administration to exclude the designation of the PRC as a developing state in any international agreement involving the United States and requires Beijing to be classified as a high- or upper-middle-income country or as a Developed state. This, as the authors of the initiative believe, will deprive China of the right to receive aid from international organizations through developing countries. Earlier it was reported that the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in Moscow, following which an agreement was reached on the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline and the Chinese plan of peace the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis was taken as a basis.
