Malaysia Aug inflation rate up 1.4pc

Malaysia's consumer price index in August rose 1.4 percent from a year earlier, in line with expectations, mainly due to higher food prices, data from the Statistics Department showed on Wednesday.

From July, the index rose 0.2 percent on a seasonally unadjusted basis.

Economists in a Reuters poll had forecast that year-on-year inflation in August would be the same level as July's at 1.4 percent. -- Reuters
