KUALA LUMPUR: Gas Malaysia Bhd today announced the appointment of Datuk Syed Faisal Albar as the chief executive officer of the company effective Jan 2, 2014, upon the retirement of its Managing Director Datuk Muhamad Noor Hamid on Dec 31 this year.
Chairman Datuk Hasni Harun said Syed Faisal's appointment said was a thorough and deliberate process, and the board was confident that Syed Faisal was the most suitable candidate to steer Gas Malaysia, going forward.
"Syed Faisal's proven business acumen over a wide spectrum of industries, encompassing logistics, media, consumer products, property and banking, demonstrates his astuteness in robust business dynamics, and has made him the best person for the position of the chief executive officer.
"He will bring to Gas Malaysia his vast corporate experience, having served in several senior executive positions in various industries," he said in a statement today.
In 2003, he was appointed chief executive officer-cum-executive director of the News Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd, a position he held until 2008.
Currently, Syed Faisal serves on the Board of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, Hong Leong Bank Bhd and Konsortium Logistik Bhd. -- Bernama
