Subang Parade Contends with Unprecedented Flash Flood After Heavy Rainfall

Management Committed to Ensure Safety of Shoppers & Tenants and to Minimize Disruptions

Kuala Lumpur (6 November) – Subang Parade, a flagship property owned by Hektar REIT, is currently managing the aftermath of an unexpected flash flood caused by heavy rainfall yesterday, 5 November 2023. The shopping centre management is diligently working on flood relief efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of its shoppers, tenants and employees during this challenging time.

The flash flood, triggered by heavy rainfall, occurred yesterday at around 5 P.M. and affected parts of the shopping centre's lower ground floor and basement. While there have been no reports of injuries, Subang Parade has incurred damage to several areas, including stores, common areas and its parking facilities.

In response to the situation, the Chief Executive Officer of Hektar Property Services Sdn. Bhd. (Property Manager of Hektar REIT), Puan Aldela Puspa Nordin said, “We are strongly dedicated to safeguarding the safety and welfare of our valued shoppers, tenants and employees. Our team is diligently focused on reducing any business interruptions and expediting the restoration of the shopping centre for your convenience.”

“The incident has been reported to relevant local authorities, including the Fire & Rescue Department and the Subang Jaya City Council, for investigation and to prevent similar unfortunate events from recurring in the future.”

Subang Parade is currently operating as usual after its employees and clean-up crew cleared the flood-affected area. The Lower Ground Floor, which was more severely affected, will be fully operational by tomorrow.
