BETAMEK ENTERS GROUNDBREAKING RESEARCH COLLABORATION WITH UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS

Collaborative Project to Develop Next-Generation Infotainment Technology with Child Guard Features

KUALA LUMPUR, 03 SEPTEMBER 2024 – Betamek Berhad ("Betamek" or the "Company"), an Original Design Manufacturer ("ODM") and a leading player in electronics manufacturing services ("EMS”) for the automotive industry, is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Betamek Research Sdn. Bhd. (“BRSB”), has entered into a Research Collaboration Agreement ("RCA") with the Institute of Technology PETRONAS Sdn. Bhd. ("ITPSB"), a subsidiary of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (“UTP”).

The collaboration focuses on the development of an innovative project titled “SafeSync360: Next-Gen Infotainment with Child Guard Technology.” This project aims to push the boundaries of automotive safety and infotainment by integrating cutting-edge technology that prioritises the safety and well-being of children within vehicles while providing informative entertainment content and solutions.

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS is a prominent Malaysian research university established on 10 January 1997. Wholly owned by Petroliam Nasional Berhad (“PETRONAS”), Malaysia's oil and gas multinational corporation, UTP is situated on a sprawling 400-hectare campus in the new township of Seri Iskandar, Perak, Malaysia. In 2023, UTP earned the distinction of being ranked as the best university in Malaysia according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. ITPSB, as a subsidiary of UTP, plays a key role in advancing these research initiatives and fostering collaborations that contribute to technological advancements and innovation in Malaysia.

This collaboration aligns with Betamek's strategic objectives to enhance its product offerings through innovation and technological advancement. The SafeSync360 project represents a significant step forward in developing next-generation automotive solutions that not only entertain but also protect passengers. This initiative underscores Betamek’s commitment to being at the forefront of automotive electronics innovation.

The intellectual property (“IP”) resulting from this collaboration will be owned by BRSB. This includes any inventions, methods, processes, designs, plans, drawings, scientific, technical, or engineering information or documentation developed during the project. Both parties have mutually agreed upon the terms and conditions related to IP ownership.
