  • Tenaga Nasional (TNB) has completed the divestment of TNB Liberty Power to AsiaPak Investments Ltd for US$54.5mil or RM228.4mil.
  • AsiaPak Investments is a private investment company based in Pakistan and Hong Kong.
  • Liberty Power owns and operates a 235MW combined cycle gas power plant that was commissioned in 2001. The power plant is located in Pakistan.
  • This development is not a surprise. TNB has alluded to its intention to divest Liberty Power previously.
  • Liberty Power is not a major earnings generator. Liberty Power accounted for RM290.0mil or only 0.8% of TNB’s revenue of RM36.9bil in 9MFY21.
  • The disposal of Liberty Power is in line with TNB’s strategy to exit non-strategic markets and focus on renewable energy.
  • TNB is expected to record a small gain on disposal of US$5.3mil or RM22.0mil.
  • We maintain BUY on TNB with a fair value of RM12.00/share.
