Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KLK) is disposing off its wholly-owned subsidiary, UKbased Somerset Cuisine Ltd, for RM4.95mil to Derfield Industries Ltd, an investment company incorporated in Hong Kong. KLK said the disposal will allow the company to exit from a non-core business and enable it to focus and harness the potential of its core plantations and oleochemical business “where the returns are significantly higher.” Incorporated in the UK in 1978, Somerset Cuisine is a contract manufacturer of jams and preserves. – StarBiz
