When a billion Ringgit port development casts a shadow on coastal Selangor, images of a Mah Meri ceremony emerged into the lime-light. The life worlds of this tiny community, part of the larger Orang Asli category of communities numbering around 160,000 citizens, often goes unnoticed. Today we speak about the challenges facing these many communities, considering the triple pulls of modernization, urbanisation and globalisation.
