Dato’ Mahadev Shankar, Malaysian Healthy Aging Society

05-Oct-17 16:00

It’s been called a demographic crisis, a silver time bomb, and a grey tsunami. Whichever name you prefer, Malaysia is expected to reach ageing population status by 2030, where seven percent of the population will be above the age of 65. From progressive employment policies and taking personal responsibility for our health to elder abuse and retirement villages, we hear from Dato’ Mahadev Shankar, a former Court of Appeals judge and advisor to the Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society, about the challenges of coming to terms with an aging society.

What are the challenges and issues of ageing? From keeping healthy workplace policies to elder abuse and retirement villages, we hear from Dato’ Mahadev Shankar, a former Court of Appeals judge, and Professor Nathan Vytialingam, an advisor and past president of the Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society. Both will be speaking at an upcoming ASEAN Conference on Healthy Aging.
