KUALA LUMPUR (June 26): Media Prima Bhd announced on Monday (June 26) the appointment of Nini Yusof as the new chief executive officer of Media Prima Television Networks (MPTN) and Primeworks Studios, effective Aug 1.

Currently the deputy CEO, she will succeed Datuk Khairul Anwar Salleh, who has decided to step down to pursue his interest in the fields of arts and creative writing, said the media group in a statement on Monday (June 26).

Since joining in 2012, Nini has held several key leadership roles within Media Prima. In 2016, she launched a joint venture (JV) between the group and CJ ENM for the home-shopping and e-commerce business. Known as CJ Wow Shop, the JV was a key business transformation initiative aimed at diversifying Media Prima’s revenue streams.

As the new CEO, Nini will oversee the operations of TV3, TV9, 8TV, ntv7, Tonton and Primeworks Studios, and report to group managing director Rafiq Razali.

“We are pleased to welcome Nini as the new CEO of MPTN and Primeworks Studios. Her extensive experience in the domestic and regional media segments will be invaluable to the group, as we continue to provide high-quality content for our audiences and innovative solutions to our advertisers. Her proven track record with Media Prima will ensure a seamless integration into the new role, as we continue to navigate the rapidly evolving media landscape,” said Rafiq in the statement.

Rafiq also expressed his gratitude to Khairul for his contributions to the growth and success of MPTN and Primeworks Studios during his tenure as the CEO. “Khairul’s contributions to the company have been instrumental in maintaining our position as the leading television network in Malaysia. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Media Prima shares closed flat at 41.5 sen on Monday, giving the group a market value of RM460.32 million.
